Why Patch 2.0 is looking beautiful

Before you read, I want you to know that I am willing to logically debate about ANY of these points if you are also calm and logical. Here is why I think Patch 2.0 is looking to be an awesome addition to the game: They are nerfing Thorn so it isn't a two shot headshot in crucible. It still has the same damage per bullet. The weapon will still be good, just not as cheap. They are fixing Last Word's damage glitch and making it the short range, hip-firing monster it was intended to be. They are buffing auto rifles, and making two of the four exotic auto rifles stand out much more. They are REMOVING FINAL ROUND'S ONE SHOT BODY SHOT YAY They are making shot package and rangefinder less God-like, so you can go for other reroll options, not just those two. Now, the parts people don't like. Gjallarhorn: Even though there are nerfing the Wolfpack rounds, they are still there. Gjallarhorn will still be doing more damage than EVERY OTHER NORMAL LAUNCHER. It's NOT going to become useless, just less God-Tier. When a weapon is used 40% of the time in PvE you know it's kind of overpowered. It makes the game easy mode. Also, it divided the community based on who had the weapon. Black Hammer: This weapon will still be a Beautiful sniper. You won't have to reload and can get a constant 18 bullets if you are a good sniper. In what situation do you need more than 18 bullets if you are with a team and have synths available??? It's not going to be instant GARBAGE, it just won't be as good. Ice Breaker: This is literally the only one I don't fully agree with. I personally don't think that the 3 extra seconds were needed, but I can see where Bungie is coming from with the whole camping thing. IF YOU WANT TO DEBATE ME LOGICALLY I am willing to logically talk over any points. No need to foul language, or any stupid arguing. Thanks for reading- Fire GOING TO EAT WITH FRIENDS WILL RESPOND IN 4 HOURS HAVE A GOOD ONE
Stat Perk Tuning Pass The initial set of stat perks that have been on weapons since launch (Send It, Hammer Forged, Field Scout, Perfect Balance, etc.) all granted a pretty huge increase to their targeted stat. We have gone back to all of these stat perks and reduced the amount that they buff your weapon stat, and this change was made retroactively against all year one weapon talent grids.
No reason to debate, you've already lost. Example: Field Scout will be made less effective than Casket Mag. Field Scout today takes a 14 shot scout to 27. Casket Mag takes it to 18. The new field scout will be essentially a garbage perk, a throwaway - useless. So, go look at all your weapons. See which ones are affected. - All your vanilla / tdb legendaries? Check. - Your VoG and CE Raid Rewards? Check. - Trials of Osiris Adept Lighthouse Rewards? Check. - Every single exotic in the game, including the brand new ones like Dreg's Promise and Lord of Wolves? Check. Player Investment is being disrespected. Anyone who thinks that's a good thing is wrong. Example: I don't even care about final round, because I don't play PvP. I'm sure that any PvP'er who spent 100 or more motes trying to roll a Final Round spear is pretty pissed now that the perk is 100% useless in PvP. It's not like they're getting their time / motes refunded. They've basically had their time investment erased. See, here's one of the problems, as I see it: Bungie talks about Destiny as if it were an MMO - about guns that tell a story, and making difficult choices. But then, they expect you to constantly chase some new shiny gun as if this were borderlands, where as soon as you find something better you toss the one you've got. They can't have it both ways. I want the former. I've got guns that have stories attached to them - in fact they're still part of my story. What I don't want is Bungie stepping in as my editor and taking out all the good parts.

    • The main quips people have were with the PvE nerfs. Let's get one thing outta the way first: in no way did Icebreaker deserve a nerf. Its popularity is steadily decreasing with the advent of rerollable snipers. It is also an exotic and should be better than legendaries. An 8 second wait time without the ability to pickup ammo? That for sure will relegate IB to one of the worst exotics around. Not like it matters though, if people were using IB to snipe camp, they ARE STILL GONNA DO IT. This change will do nothing to players' playstyle because the content is all about camping so you don't get wrecked by adds that cheaply kill you in 1-2 shots. Now as for BH, also undeserved. This is not a common legendary sniper, it is a raid weapon. Consequently, it SHOULD BE BETTER than other legendary snipers. Fatebringer takes a dump on every legendary in the game and most exotics too. No nerf. BH is not even that good, it is situational and only usable against stationary bosses. It is useless against wave sections where you'd be better off with a surplus/field scout/firefly/outlaw/final round sniper for insane damage output. BH without prime white nail is going to be one of the worst legendary snipers in the game. A glorified reload when you already have faster reload perk in the middle tree = redundancy (similar to when P&T stupidly had increased range in its middle tree). Mulligan is the worst perk ever. Any high impact sniper with just one of firefly/field scout/surplus or a combo of outlaw/hidden hand/grenadier with faster reload perk will dump all over BH. Will BH still do good damage? Sure. But who cares since you can simply reroll any ordinary legendary sniper out there for much better perks that increase damage output and ammo intake and still retains ability to have ridiculous reload speed (which is all that white nail nerfed really is). Simply put, if RNG gave you a sniper with mulligan+nerfed white nail as the 2 perks, guaranteed that 75%+ would reroll that piece of garbage. The rest wouldn't because they ran outta motes/wpn parts. As for Gally? Whatever, it will still be the best weapon in PvE by a long mile. The intended purpose I'm sure will backfire when LFG will require even more players to have Gally to compensate for reduced damage. Again, the problem is not with OP weapons but with encounter design that is so shallow that it only takes into account how much DPS you can dish out. If encounters required more than just mindless shooting (puzzles, timing, environment) then Gally wouldn't be a requirement as it is now.

    • I would rather use synths on heavy and you can easily use more than 18 bullets on a lot of things... Any walker takes more than 18. During crota after you kill ir yut, all those damn yellow bar Knights. We usually duo it so we don't have a team of 6. I'm not opposed to a nerf, but I am opposed to how they did it. It's my baby. I would like to see 4 or 5 bullets in reserve. And possibly replace mulligan with triple tap. That would give it exotic tier perks still, but you would have to be very skilled to use it to its full potential. And on the ice breaker, I'm fine with the 8 seconds. I'd just like them to increase the mag size to 8 and let us pick up ammo to re fill it as well.

      • I only play PVE so my comments only apply there. I don't see why anyone cares if a gun is OP in PVE. If someone else can take a boss down in seconds with one shot, I don't care. It doesn't affect my game play. I can do the same or use different weapons to make it more challenging if I like. If it's already too hard for even the best weapons, then many won't play at all. Also on the Gjallerhorn, the game is divided already, many won't play with squeakers, players that don't speak the same language, players without mics, players not in their clan, players without a high enough grimoire, players at too low of a level and probably a few others I haven't listed. I made it through until I got a Gjallerhorn. I was shooting crota with a sniper, then a non tracking rocket, then a Truth, then finally got a Gjallerhorn. You find people that you can play with or let you play. I've been on both sides of joining teams with a friend where only one of us had a Gjallerhorn. They take both of us or neither. Guns shouldn't be changed because of whining.

        • Shot package will now be the only option for competing with a shotgun and it used to be either rangefinder or shotpackage. They should have just gotten rid of the perks.

        • Blackhammer: you will need more than 18 bullets to down a boss and yes we have synths but I rather be using them for heavies. Icebreaker nerf makes no sense at all. Ghorn is supposed to be the most OP weapon in the game and should stay that way. They should be buffing other weapons to bring them all closer in line and designing better enemies. Nerfing the best 3 weapons is a giant slap in the face to all the players who put in effort and time to obtain them. The only reason I can think of is that bungie wants to make TKK weapons look more appealing. They could have done that by reusing the same perks or a reskin to make us re-earn the weapons again. There are many options but they chose the easiest and laziest way out.

          • Ghorn makes a lot of sense. BH I can live with. Icebreaker doesn't bother me much. I don't understand why they would reduce mag size for HCs. It makes no sense. The damage is already similar to scouts but scouts have triple the clip in some cases. In PVE a scout will be the only option. Also I don't think Final Round should have been killed like that. It should have been nerfed so it would only body shot on the highest impact snipers like E spear, not LDR or longbow. By killing the perk, they killed the entire gun that people worked so hard for. I never had a problem dying to final round even when I faced 3 people with them because once they miss, they are dead. I'm ok with 90% of 2.0 but these 2 things have annoyed me.

            • The problem is for me at least isn't the PVP tuning. It actually level the playing field a little especially for less skilled players. The auto rifle is a good entry level weapon for crucible and needed a buff. In PVE though? The tuning of exotics is troubling. It only makes the grind a little harder. The grind only. Raids are challenging for other reasons. But instead of making all the exotics more desirBle Nd useful they take the one that actual feels like a "difference maker" and normalizes it. I hate to tell you damage sponges and mobs are basically the only opponents and this just made each and every bit of game play a little more of grind. And lessened the reward at the same time

              • I don't mind them fixing stuff or adding to the game, but bungie needs to stop going back and forth with there shit, and listening to the toxic community that we have. How many damn times are yet gonna change Auto rifles, or make thorn stronger then weaker. Thy just need to make up there mind and stick with it, or make different guns to add more variety or balance.

                  • I don't agree with Blackhammer nerf. You won't always have 18 rounds. Sometimes 3 or 6. Then there is a challenge to land all precision shots when you have about 3-6 rounds, you can extend the number of bullet hits by 3 every time you land 3 precision. With the nerf that perk will be useless when you have about 6 or less rounds.

                    • You didn't mention half of the nerfs. They are Ruining HC. Reduced mag size? Reducing aim? Shotguns getting nerfed. Pulse rifles getting nerfed. Both of these were just bumped up. Now you're taking them back down? Are they just throwing darts at a wall in the dark? Idiots.

                      • Agree a lot of its good. Why in the world are they nerfing fusions again. Qbb doesnt need a nerf and dregs promise needs an ammo boost. Why bungie designs fun to use weapons and makes them useless is flat out a lack of common sense. Also no excuse taking so long for these changes. They certainly stupidly nerfed suros and autos very quickly.
