Intro: As Destiny was first released in September of 2014, I recall waiting eagerly for a couple weeks before my schedule cleared up to purchase my own disc. Since then, I'll admit that I've enjoyed Bungie's game; I've grown attached to my guardians. I have never purchased either of the expansions (The Dark Below and House of Wolves) however, only playing what was shipped on the original disc. Buying the $60 game, I didn't want to spend more money on it. That way, I could instead juggle other games into my gaming routine. Now, details are emerging of the newest add-on, The Taken King. It looks beefier and I still must admit, I like Destiny. And so, I've considered a couple times if I should invest my money into this next expansion, but it doesn't seem fair yet.
Main Point: The original base game was $60. I bought it when it was released, so that was my choice in spending that amount of money as opposed to waiting until a price drop. With the new Taken King expansion being released, Bungie has grouped together a few different options. In my scenario, buying each expansion individually would be more expensive than buying each expansion with the base game (which I already own).
The Dark Below and House of Wolves cost $20 each.
The Taken King, by itself, costs $40.
Buying Bungie's The Taken King: Legendary Edition is $60. This is the one that includes the base game with the three add-ons.
To summarize, there doesn't seem to be a fair price (as of now) to purchase each expansion if you currently own only the base game, that is unless you by the base game again. Preferably, I'd like to be able to avoid re-purchasing content.
