Why do men play as female avatars?
I'm just curious as to why I join a party chat with all men and then inspect their characters to find female characters. Can someone explain this to me?
Edit: I don't care nor does it bother me that men choose to play as female avatars, I was only curious as to why they choose to do so. Most of the answers so far have been interesting/enlightening.

You create a character the way you want them to be and look like you want. Make or female shouldn't matter It's what connects you to the character the best that matters

I believe there's a far more important question to be asked here. Why do humans choose to play as aliens or robots instead of simply being a human like they truly are in the real world? I'm not trying to stir up any form of trouble by asking this. I'm simply just curious since it is strange why anyone wouldn't want to play as a character of the same species as they are in reality. It's a change for once. Every single game that I play, the main character is male. Also, when I played the Beta, Ghost felt like the male Cortana, so I played as the female Master Chief

It feels weird and it feels like you are judging a male (as a male). And since You have to stare at your character at times, I rather the character be something I would not mind looking at. I do not want people to think i am a girl though. It is just the character. FYI lots of trolls around topics like this.

I make my character to look badass. For some reason a female Hunter seemed cool to me, while a male Titan also fit perfectly in my head. It adds variety to the male based world of video games.

I personally don't really care to be honest. On my xbox, Titan and Warlock were male, because I thought that's what they were designed to be, with the Hunter being a female. On PS4, I'm doing Titan and Warlock as female and Hunter as male just cuz.

I just get bored and make new characters, and some armor looks better on female characters. For instance the Crota Warlock Raid gear fits better on a female Warlock.

Cause you get free sh*t for having a women character from horny male (and sometimes but rarely) female gamers lol. I used to wonder this too and then watched to my amazement as feMALE characters got so much free stuff. Some of my friends who are actually girls get so much free set. One got a whole computer setup and this wicked nice TB headset.
