Why Xur needs to be changed. (For the Dev team)

Xur needs to be changed or removed. Plain and simple. And these are my reasons. [u][b]Xur is easy to access.[/b][/u] Xur is the easy way out. Currently, the vast majority of Vendors require some sort of ranking up system. Done by either doing their related activity or bounties. And on top of that, some Vendors require you to buy the item for an arguably pricy amount of crucible/vangaurd marks or glimmer. And with the prices on said items, it's quite difficult to buy more than one thing. With Xur, there is no such ranking system. No marks. Just coins. And the prices for exotic armor and weapons are extremely cheap for someone level 27 or higher. Exotics, the best weapon type in the game, shouldn't be sold for such a low price. It is currently harder to get some legendaries than Exotics. [b][i]Strange coins mean absolutely nothing.[/i][/b] First of. They are rare materials. Rare. We are buying exotic weapons and armor.....with a rare material. It's not even legendary. It's rare. I feel that this is a slap in the face to the very essence of exotics. Secondly, strange coins are so easy to come by. You can get them from rare engrams, a mission, cryptarch packages and faction packages. It has one of the highest drop rate of any material. We're buying [b]exotics[/b] with one of the most common materials. Players don't think "Oh yay I got a strange coin, that'll be useful to buy exotics with!" Players think, "[i]Another[/i] strange coin." Which simply highlights is commonness. [b][i]It ruins the spirit of exotics.[/i][/b] While the effectiveness isn't in question, there's a cool feeling that "Hey, I'm using a pretty rare exotic weapon!" And the kind of "I'm so happy I got this!" This is how an exotic should feel. Instead, it feels more like a tool. A tool anyone can buy from Home Depot and use. Now I don't know if that's what you intentioned, but for me it would feel more special if everyone didn't have such easy access to the best type of weapon. Correct me if I'm wrong, but the best type of any game is both effective as it is rare. Let's think of Shadow of Mordor, epic runes aren't easy to get and are rarely rare. War frame, war frame prime parts aren't just handed out willy nilly, they are fairly difficult to get and requires some grinding. This grind makes the items more special and I can't think of any game that just hands out their best weapon and armor. [b][i]It sparks a very heated debate over Xurning and Earning.[/i][/b] Need I say more? [b][i]He ruins the "hunt" for exotics.[/i][/b] I grinded and grinded and grinded for the elusive Gjallarhorn. And once when I was doing the nightfall (Omnigul, with arc burn) , it dropped. My excitement and disbelief was that of a little child. Had Xur sold it, I would have been robbed of that special feeling and moment with two complete strangers. What I'm trying to say is that, you don't get that same feeling from buying an item from Xur than having it drop. Some people still only play for the hope at a Gjallarhorn. Sure, they'd be happy if he sold it, but they'd be ecstatic if it dropped for them. [b][i]Possible alternatives:[/i][/b] •Have specific places where certain exotics drop more and have the effectiveness of the exotic correspond with the activity. •Give Xur a set of bounties along with a rep system. Keep the prices the same and have 6 bounties available. Three PvE and three PvP. Make them do 3 to buy the armor, 4 to buy a weapon. You have to do this each week to access Xur. The bounties shouldn't be easy either. Maybe something like, [i]"Complete Shrine of Oryx on level 30 difficulty."[/i] or [i]"Win three crucible matches without an exotic equipped to prove you are worthy."[/i] something that isn't too time consuming but still challenging nonetheless. •Remove Xur's ability to sell exotic weapons and armor altogether and make exotics purchase able through given Vendors. Example: Have the hunter vanguard (can't remember his name, just know he's badass) require you to bring him a sniper rifle blueprints that drop from different locations. Then bring them back to the vanguard. Complete 5 crucible matches, going positive in all of them to impress the vanguard. (Insert a couple more steps here) and bam there's your icebreaker. •Remove Xur. And have a increase/decrease chance of exotics. For example, if I get ice breaker through the crucible, the chance of me getting it again should be lower. But eventually it will go back up to its original chance. This system ensures players don't go 8 months without a Gjallarhorn or get no land beyond 8 times in a row. •Remove Xur's ability to sell exotic armor and weapons. But increase the drop rate of exotic armor because those things are once in a lifetime at least when I've seen them. •Have each exotic priced based on its effectiveness. Example: No Land Beyond would cost five strange coins. The Last Word would cost 25, Universal remote would cost 13, Gjallarhorn would cost 45. The helm of saint-14 would cost 18. •Take some exotics out of Xur's loot able. [b][i]Conclusion[/i][/b] Xur has presented an entitled aura among the community that every exotic should be handed to them. While Xur is a great help for some he is just too easy for all. I say he needs to be removed or changed because he slightly decreases the value of exotics as well as other areas of the game but most tragic of all, he gives a selfish mentality to those in the community.
