This term is the result of losers trying to make themselves feel better. That's all it is. Destiny pvp takes no skill so that term is even more ridiculous.

The try-hard is a good PvP player who is the opposite of a professional. When a professional reks in Crucible, there are no posts on the forums, no teabagging, no bravado. They just take their rewards and move on. They have my respect. Try-hards just seem to be compensating for whatever they're lacking in real life by putting way too much emphasis on digital accomplishments in a video game.

I do use some of the strongest weapons most of the time now than I did before. when things start to get easy I switch to other weapons so I can get practice with them. Thing is, the way destiny is now, most people have had a chance to get thron, tlw, red death, suros, vex blah blah blah. More and more it's people using the same gun slightly (arguably) modified in pvp. I don't brag when I win, I don't tbag, I dont curse, or send any messages to other players unless I am actually impressed and i send them a good game type message and add them to my list of ppl to play with. However when I play, I do try to win, I do expect the opposite team to be as good or better than me, and sometimes I do really good, and ofcourse fuhk up bad some times as well. Like I said before, I don't brag or rub it in when I win, I keep silent and calm with w/e I got... I just hate losing. I won't call out anyone if I lose or anything, but i just don't like it haha. Not sure where that puts me.

It's a made-up word, so my definition is a bit different. I take it more literally; a person who makes winning his sole objective and "tries hard" to do so. And I think it's utterly ridiculous that the term has become some sort of insult. As though we should be playing games without trying to win.

Agree with everything OP said. They are known as attention-whores. The same people who shamelessly edit their own thread half a dozen times "200, 300, etc"to get more people to post and put "wow guys OMG, I can't believe this is trending"

I'll start off by saying I'm not much of a PvP player. But when it comes to try hards... I get it. It's faster to make a whole team quit then to play a full match. Teabagging, trash talking, a whole team of vexs pre nerf (Suros, TLW, thorn, hawk).... People don't tend to sit through that. If you can finish a match in 2 minutes why wouldn't you?

Hmm.. well I don't see a "try hard" being someone who wants to show off to everyone else how "amazing" they are.. those are what are call "show offs" or "elitists".. a try hard (I'm not using quotations anymore because I'm actually using the literal terminology) is one who tries harder than you. Imagine a world without try hards.. we may still be discovering electricity.. the Olympics probably wouldn't exsist. The moon would still be unknown.. no one would want to excel. Try hards in Destiny and other games with (COMPETITIVE) features are necessary or the game would be dull and grey with nothing to look forward too. Being 30 you sure do seem to have a rather immature mentality. Just because your past your peak and are becoming dull, having become resentful to the youth who strive to not end up like you does not mean we should dull down are competitive aspects just for, people like you..

Ehh... I'm ok with it here. Everyone should get a chance to feel what it is like to be good at something. At least when its a video game no one really gets hurt. I'm older now as well, and I stopped playing organized hockey after college... just rec leagues now. I lost count over the years the number of times some try-hard would end up injuring himself or most likely others. It does show a lack of character, but most of them are kids and haven't matured enough. I'm sure they'll come around.

So the actual definition and not the colloquial terminology commonly excepted in the gaming community? That's the equivalent of saying that its ok to flick your pinky upward at people in China because it's means something different where you come from. Definitions change with time, context, community and location. Refusing to accept that is arrogance.
