That's what I'm talking about. They used to drop when the game first came out but back then exotic engrams could give you blue items.
The game announces when someone finds one:
GuardianXYZ found an Exotic Engram (yellow letters)

Yeah because you spent 100 hours at the loot cave and never saw one does not mean they did not exist. They would drop back then but they [b]did not[/b] guarantee exotic items.

Lol okay. Believe what you want. They did drop in past. They were extremely rare. They did not guarantee exotics. They were yellow in color and getting one was announced just like it is for legendaries. Engrams were not such a big deal back then because even legendary engrams could give you greens. And with the loot cave you could get 100s of engrams in a few hours.

Well then you were unlucky. They were a thing and I have absolutely no reason to lie about this. You do not have to believe me but yes they did drop and they mainly gave disappointment in the form of blues.

Yup I got one whilst playing a ROC strike when I was still learning the game.. I didn't record it, WISH I HAD!! Cause I didn't know back then how rare they were.. It was utter shit though cause all I got from it was energy shards :(

And yes it showed up as exotic engram on the screen too and was yellow in colour.
