I've never really had a problem with this game until now.

So a friend and I constantly play Destiny, but one week when The Nexus was the Nightfall, my friend got Gjallarhorn and I got a solar LDR-5001. We joked how insane it was and how lucky he is for getting it. But now, about a month and a half later, he's been becoming a kind of d!ck that you only find when someone's been hanging out with the wrong crowd. Now that HOW is out, he's been able to do all these great PoE runs while I have to sit back and only play the 28 and 32 versions because I haven't had the time to commit to a 34 or 35. So 2 days ago, I finally rustled up 3 free hours of Destiny game time and I asked him if we could do PoE 34 so I could get a weapon core or possibly some Etheric Light. I even offered to find a group, which is something I didn't normally do. We found a person who happened to have a 365 Gjallarhorn, even though I said Gjallarhorn not required on the LFG site. Here's the part where I got upset. The LFG guy inspects me and finds I only have a 331 Hunger of Crota, which I guess wouldn't work against Qodron apparently. He mentions this to my friend, (Let's call him Sam), and Sam asks why I still don't have a Gjallarhorn yet. And I reply, "Well, I just haven't had the time to do 12 raids and 3 Nightfalls every week. I guess RNG just doesn't like me, haha!" At this point I smell something amiss. And then Sam says the words that I have been dreading since the day he got his Gjallarhorn. "Well Qodron can't be killed without 3 Gjallarhorns." I try to say I can kill ads while they shoot him, but he eventually kicks me from the fireteam and the party and invites another random. Is this really what Destiny has become? Has Gjallarhorn become so much of a crutch that the game can't be completed without one? Thanks to this pathetic, overpowered weapon, I lost my only friend I ever played Destiny with. I remember when we both didn't have Gjallarhorn. It was fun, imagining what it'd be like to wield this coveted, golden trimmed, pristine beast of a weapon and run into battle and blow everything away. Well he did blow one thing away. My respect for him. The fact that he would let something that didn't even exist in real life come between us just floored me. Gjallarhorn is the worst weapon to ever be put into Destiny. It's utterly despicable to have the entire community separated by weapon. A measly weapon! Not skill, not playtime, not even levels, but as long as you have Gjallarhorn, you're welcome among the Destiny "Elite", which apparently doesn't have time do deal with "No-Ghorn scrubs" like me. I realize some of the people who have Bally's aren't like this, so I respect you. You are the poster child of Destiny. Someone who helps anyone, regardless of skill, age, or equipment, on anything, raid, strike, or even story missions. I respect you. However, to people like my "friend" Sam, you people disgust me. I can't believe you, not helping people just because they don't have a certain weapon. I'm not asking for your punishment, nor am I asking for your sympathy, I'm just asking you to realize what you're doing to this community that's supposed to be friendly and supporting. I'm sorry if I offended anyone, but it had to be said. Gjallarhorn is ruining the game. Edit 1: I never said that Qodron couldn't be beaten without 3 Ghorns. It was my friend. I know the strategy to beat it. I've watched the videos. Edit 2: Fixed minor spelling bugs. Also, thanks for the kind words and the acceptance of this post! :) Edit 3: Thanks for all the support guys! My favorite comment is the one from Sirfortiscue, "Godzillahorn is like The Ring from Lord of the Rings. It's beautiful to look at and everyone wants it. But, when someone holds it in their possession, it transforms that person into something dark, something evil. No amount of talking will bring him back. It has consumed him, his Precious." That said, some people are Bilbo Baggins and can resist the urge through not knowing it's true power. I like you, Bilbo Baggins.
