I don't think thorn should get a nerf but ..
I think the poison should be adjusted. It should stop doing damage once the wielder of the weapon is killed.
I am undecided. Before I was a die hard "Don't nerf Thorn" but I am also a reasonable person. While I have no problems countering Thorn with superior gunplay, Thorn presents problems that it shouldn't if balance is what Bungie seeks. Personally, I stay behind cover, strafe, aim for the head while being unpredictable to beat a Thorn user. While I can beat it with planning, I shouldn't have to. I shouldn't have to change my strategy to counter a specific weapon. On the other side of the coin, the Thorn user doesn't have to take such precautions. They have the upper hand in a standard gunfight unless the prey takes the necessary precautions to even the odds. No other weapon makes me change my engagement plans (except the Last Word but that's because it only excels at a certain range). And if balance is what Bungie seeks, then Thorn should be looked at and nerf'd carefully. I'm not saying it's unbeatable, because it's not. I can beat it with any given primary exotic that's not an auto rifle, no land beyond or universal remote in a reasonable amount of time. But what I am saying is that it is some levels ahead of other exotics. Thorn has little weakness contrary to every other exotic primary and using one already gives you an edge on the competition. With all this said. If they asked me to nerf it, I wouldn't make such drastic changes as some of these anti-thorn people are. I would simply tone down the poison to 4 or even 3. It just doesn't seem fair to hit someone twice in the head and run. But it also doesn't sound fair to reduce the gun's stats so that no one wants to use it. *cough SUROS Regime* I will be just fine if they don't nerf it. I will continue to excel in the cruicble. However if balance is the end goal here, rationally it should be nerf'd but only in a small way like I suggested.
Why not make the dot deal less damage but last longer? It'll deal the same damage, give the victim more time to react, and allow the wielder to track the victim longer.
-
Not the poison. The accuracy.
-
1 RespuestaWhy? Is the poison linked to the guardian? The effect should continue its duration. If you were bitten by a poisonous snake, killed it, will the poison disperse? NO.
-
2 RespuestasBut that is a nerf, isn't it?
-
Just take out some of the dots out
-
3 RespuestasLike hell it shouldn't get a nerf

18 RespuestasMost of you who think it should be nerfed don't have it so go get it and get good scrubs. There is a reason why thorn is the hardest Exotic Bounty to complete...
-
33 RespuestasIf you're poisoned in real life, does it go away after you kill the creature that bite you? No. I see what you are trying to do here, but if that happened, thorn would become another weapon that sat in my vault next to suros.

They need to adjust the amount of damage and not have the poison proc until a second after you're shot. If they lowered the tick dmg enough, they could even have it stack. Headshots could then do more dmg. It'd actually take more skill to use, but it'd require more fine tuning for it to be the way I think it should be.

It's an easy fix

1 RespuestaIt's like saying a sticky grenade shouldn't blow up once the thrower is dead
-
Unrealistic, that's the same as saying a rocket shouldn't explode if the person who fired it dies. It just doesn't make sense.
-
Same deal as soon as a titan dies and he spawns a bubble the bubble dies as well
-
actually that is a great compromise to the weapon. Just having damage stop when you kill the weilder would make thorn much less of a threat but would leave the weapon unchanged other then that. its a hard weapon to beat and i still believe hand cannons as a whole should have some adjustments https://www.bungie.net/en/Forum/Post/119226618/0/0 this was my balancing idea if you want to take a look but i think you might have found a way to balance thorn out with just that one idea

I agree
