How many hours have you played?
Personally, I have played about 250 hours in this game. I have only 1 character that's 32 and I have all the Titan armor exotics. I almost have all of the exotic guns and such. I just think RNGesus likes me, but I have also bought weapons and armor from Xur almost every other week when he has good gear. Currently working on my Hunter & Warlock.
Edit:
A lot of people picked 601+ hours played. Extremely understandable since people want to get that GHorn and other exotics

I think I'm at 1200+, decided to take break because of that number. I've logged in maybe once in the past week and that isn't going to change much until maybe HOW, depending on how POE turns out to be.

Shows how much I turn my Xbox on and walk away or just do other things. :P ) For those on X1, the time played tracker is usually wrong. If you turn off your X-Box or start another app while you have Destiny running, it usually still records Destiny as running so it can record time played even though you're not playing. I usually stop playing and just switch to Netflix and I've noticed it adds time to Destiny while I was watching a show before falling asleep.

You clearly needed an option for 1000+ hours if 40% are 600+ I also don't think it has anything to do with trying to get every exotic. I certainly haven't played all these hours chasing down exotics. I've met cool people on the game that I enjoy playing with and my friends still play. I've approached this game like I did Halo 3 so I play a ton of crucible which naturally inflates my hours dramatically. Then I get asked to run sword a whole lot and been trying to speed run Crota.

Over 22 days spent on my Hunter 6 days on my Titan and 6 on my Warlock (all 32's of course)

According to my Xbone (and the Smartglass App), I'm at 1046 hours - xbox includes time in the tower, loading, etc.
