Who's your favorite antagonist in movies, shows, games, books, anime, etc.?
I'm trying to write an antagonist for a story, and seeing how people react to certain villains can help guide me in creating the perfect one.
Edit: 7 people think Handsome Jack takes the cake.

Handsome Jack. Honestly he made you really hate him at times and then he'd crack you up other times...yeah...he's a strange one.

Either this nutty motherfuсker, or this one. The first one is Taha from District 13 and the second is Norman Stansfield from The Professional. Aside from the stellar acting, each of these villains was absolutely out of their minds, usually with the assistance of some sort of controlled substance. I don't know if you've seen either of the movies in question, but there are few villains that evoke that sort of simultaneous fascination and revulsion that I get from them. I'll admit that Taha is a little more comical and less significant in his movie, but he was still excellently done.

4 RespuestasAntagonists are hard to find, and apparently hard to write well. Hollywood appears to require an antagonist that's not that interesting, lest he detract from the protagonists. The other issue, of course, is that once an antagonist becomes too interesting, he becomes a tritagonist. "Antagonist", by definition, pigeonholes a character. Anyway, try Rorschach/Ozymanidas. Gus Fring. Loki, Magneto. Hisoka, Neferpitou. The antagonist in Use of Weapons. Hans Gruber. The antagonists in Cabin in the Woods. The Joker (Mark Hamill or Heath Ledger) The CEO in The Fifth Element. Tyler Durden. Everybody in In Bruges. Johann Liebert. Megatron and Starscream.
