By now, I'm sure most of us can agree that Destiny's story is severely lacking. Well the new Game Informer issue came to my door yesterday and in it I read an article that spells out something that Bungie has planned for Destiny 2.
In the article, Bungie reveals a new class to come out called "Loremaster". Sounds cool right? Not so much...
A quote from David Dague (DeeJ): "The loremaster doesn't actually have any attacks."
Here's another quote from David: "When you pull the trigger, he or she will recite the history of whatever planet you're on at the time or describe in real-time what the other characters in the fireteam are doing."
So why would anyone in their right mind want to play a character that has NO way to defend themselves? Well, here's something else the article said:
"To ensure no one misses the narrative, players will have to be in earshot of the loremaster to earn 'listening' shards and energy. Rather than collecting raid gear and materials to max your character, this will be the only way to upgrade the top-tier Ear Trumpet armor set with sufficient light to reach level 40."
So instead of creating new missions, events, etc. that players can complete that can lead to new lore of Destiny; Bungie is going to make it mandatory that you have to revisit the same old places that we've all been to over and over to find out new stuff. The loremaster is one of the biggest wastes of time I've seen as far as new content in games is concerned.
I have stopped playing the game for 2 months now due to all the problems with Destiny. I stay on the forums in the hope for seeing some sort of turn around that makes this game the jaw-dropping IP we were all told it was suppose to be pre-release and to see if Bungie can do a comeback with Destiny 2; this Game Informer article does nothing to reassure me that Bungie is off to a good start.
EDIT: people have informed me this was an April fools joke and have come to agree with them. the issue of Game Informer i have that this article was in didn't have the page that has the "Game Infarcer" that leads into a bunch of satirical articles. i left my original post unchanged you everyone can see how this thread got started and progressed. in retrospect, i find it funny =)
