Ronald Reagan was born here and Abraham Lincoln grew up here. Along with Walt Disney, Bill Murray, Robin Williams, Derrick Rose, Deane Wade, and a lot more. Illinois is not on the verge of an economic collapse despite what charts say because of immensely high social standing in certain areas. Winnetka is one of the richest villages in the United Sates, and we have many other rich villages like Wilmette, Glenview, Glenbrook, Arlington Heights, Joliet, etc. not to mention it's the home of New Trier high school Chicago is definitely better than L.A. and it was debatably the best city back in the 1920's alongside New York. We have an amazing Police force, and it is not hard to stay out of the south side of Chicago. It's really not crazy corrupt, and all cities are corrupt too.
Edit: okay... Never mind I guess it's not

Ohio had more astronauts. To be fair ohio had more astronauts then any other state though. Something about ohio makes people want to leave the face of the earth... New hampshire ftw though

New Trier should not be on that list.

6 RespuestasIllinois is on the verge of collapse. It's billions in debt and riddled with corruption. And companies are leaving or are threatening to leave this crappy state because of it's overall unfriendly business atmosphere. So what does illinois do? Give them HUGE tax breaks to stay, only adding to the billions of dollars of debt they already have and they have no way to make up for the decrease in tax revenue. now they want to tax people based on how much mileage they drive per year because they can't even afford to to repair the roads. they already increased the gas tax. That was supposed to be for road repairs .Instead the funds went to cover pension costs. Now they want to raise the gas tax again. The governor has no choice but to make massive cuts to school funding and other important programs and lot of people don't like it. But if the cuts don't happen illinois will be solvent within 10 years. Yes there have been important people and are nice cities in illinois. But those same features are shared in almost all states. The only thing Illinois is the best at is being broke. rant over-have a nice day.

2 RespuestasAs a person born in IL, and went to college in IL. I can honestly say. -blam!- THAT STATE! There's a reason that I skipped town and moved to Missouri. There's a reason that I referred to the Poplar Street Bridge as checkpoint Charlie.

http://fortune.com/2014/06/10/most-corrupt-states-in-america/ Illinois is rated as the 4th most corrupt state in the union...

1 RespuestaIllinois is not a good state. FOID cards, corruption (how many governors of ours have gone to jail? I lost count), Chicago rules all, among the most in debt States in the Union (possibly the most in debt), super flat, boring, too much corn...

7 RespuestasI'm 13 and I don't care about politics or debt, but the weather here sucks. Also, there is not a single fun thing in Illinois. "Hey dad, I want to go to Illinois for spring break!" "Hey dad, it's spring, why is it so -blam!-ing cold?" "Dad, this place sucks. I want to kill myself." R.I.P. Dad's Son "It wasn't a gun or a crook, but the state itself killed me." TBH id rather be at California or Florida. (Universal Studios ftw)
