is the gally really that great
I've not got one, I've got the truth, Hezen, hunger of crota, dragons breath.... Basically everything apart from a gallahorn. So is it really that much better than everything else ??

2 RespuestasJus put it this way. The archon priest nightfall. Me and buddy each had gally. Each 7 rockets. As soon as we could damage him he was dead in a matter of seconds. His backup didn't even have a chance to spawn

Gjallarhorn is awesome, and by far the best rocket launcher in destiny, but I generally wouldn't say there's such a thing as a best weapon in game. It depends on the situation and the persons playing style...

It's a great launcher. Ie a great situational weapon. Would rather run with Hawkmoon as my primary and do 99% of my gaming with that Glad I've got it but it's not the be all and end all that it's made out to be by some.

It's the goat, yes, but hardly worth the amount of attention it gets on these forums. If it were equal to that it would be more like the Death Star and a rocket launcher.

Wolfpack rounds shred bosses with or without a burn. Couple that with Weapons of Light and you've got yourself a leak mean killing machine. Gjallrhorn spits out DPS at a higher and more consistent rate than ANY other heavy in the game to date. When you have one, you will see exactly what that means. For me, a swordbearer in Crotas End Hard Raid, Gjallarhorn is the difference between killing the Sword Knight in 5 seconds with my own rockets, or waiting 10+ for everyone else to poke him with primary's. And no, my HoC/Legendary Rocket Launcher w/tracking still can't hold a candle to the Gjallarhorn. Situations where Gjallarhorn is a OHKO, other launchers take 2+ to make it happen.

12 RespuestasWell, lets put it this way. You go against Atheon and you run a full team of truths vs a full team of gjallahorns. The full team of truth might have to do 2 or three portals to take him down (I think). A group of gjallahorns can take him down in one cycle on hard.

If you say other wise, you have no idea. 21 Gjallarhorn shots or 18 Icebreaker shots? Which one do you think is killing quicker and more enemies? inb4 the Icebreaker has unlimited ammo. You have fun waiting for an ammo regen while I kill everything. Just saying... the other RLs are a good substitute if you don't have a Gjallarhorn.[/spoiler]

Like every weapon it is situational. Against majors, ultras and bosses it is great. Not required for Crota HM but it can make the fight more efficient. Since I just got it I am using it most of the time but there are definitely places you want ice breaker or Suros for your exotic. If you are using any other exotic you are wasting your exotic slot. It does significantly more damage than HoC or truth.

I have had Ghorn for a really long time and i keep it equipped over everything else i have which is a lot of stuff but surly it cant be worth it to fill your exotic slot with a heavy, and if you ask anyone that doesnt have it they will probably tell you that hunger is just as good and you should believe them because they probably know something. Ghorn is just like any other rocket launcher, until you get wolfpack rounds which is just like hungers cluster bombs except they track targets and do as much damage as possible instead of spreading out and missing half the enemies. I mean there is no good reason for a lot of these guys to require people to have Ghorn to join their groups for crota hard mode, it only decimates crotas shield but if the team was any good they would use their primaries to break his shield like a lot of the people on this forum claim to do. Also come on man you dont need a crutch of a weapon, your better than that, im probably a noob so i have to use it but if you ask anyone that doesnt have Ghorn they will tell you that its just a crutch for noobs.
