It makes no sense that vendors sell lvl 31 gear.

This being said, it makes absolutely no sense that vendors sell lvl 31 armor. Reasons for this Gives people hitting lvl 20 ABSOLUTELY no reason to do vault of glass Allows new lvl 20's no grind to get up to the level of experienced players. This being said having no reason to do vault of glass will most likely make many lvl 20's completely skip this part of the game and go straight or the "good loot" (crota loot, good as in more light and damage). Before Dark Below we actually had a real reason to do vault of glass, and now us that played during the reign of vog when it had the best loot, and not Christmas noobs can progress to crotas end. All these level 20's can progress straight to crotas end raid without even doing vog! This is insane. What it should be is that you have to complete vog on easy, then hard, and only then can you actually have access to lvl 32 armor and 331 weapons. Now they have progressed through every aspect of the game, had experience with vog, and now can be rewarded with newer and better armor and weapons. You might think I'm ranting, but I'm trying to help the game out. If bungie would somehow implement this, it would keep people playing the game longer especially new comers, because if bungie doesn't, I have a feeling that scrubs will grind to level 20, get lvl 31 armor from the vendors, beat crota once or twice, and then put the game down and never pick it up. If they had to progress through the vault of glass it gives them more stuff to do and therefore keeps them playing longer, further increasing the world of destiny. Any comments or things you would like to add?

  • Alright, I'm going to put his out there for whoever cares: if Bungie had thought a little harder about the loot system before Crota's End and. provided more ways to obtain loot, we wouldn't be here complaining now would we? For instance, Bungie should've realized that there would be controversy if they made the vendors sell 33 light gear when one of the more challenging things in the game only provides 30 light gear. What they should've done is make the vendors sell 27 light gear, add transmogrification, and provide more ways of getting higher light level gear.

  • Vault is still relevant but not all of it has to be done to get good loot anyway. What level could the event or gear possible give? Before dlc it got players to 29. VoG raid gear got 30. Crota gear gets level 32. Why would vendor gear still only give level 29

  • Vault still will stay relevant for all new people because it is the only Big source of income for acsndant materials to upgrade that gear. Remember I said Big because you can get like 24 at max shards on Normal, assuming you get 3 from everything and that the Templar does not teleport

Grinding for marks ain't no picnic Helmet= 120 marks and one commendation Chest= 75 marks and one commendation Boots & Gauntlets = 65 120+75+65+65= 325 marks, plus the two commendations. (That's 55 R.O.C strikes, you'll have 324 after 54 meaning you'll have to do one more) Weekly mark cap is 100, You would have to grind for four weeks to get enough marks. (week one: 100) (week 2: 200) (week 3: 300) (week four 325-400). In terms of VoG, that's 16 loot checkpoints, 32 if you have 2 characters, and 48 if you have 3. Odds are you'll have a decent amount of gear by your 16th checkpoint. Let's say your average ROC strike takes 12 minutes, 12 x 55 = 660. That's 11 hours. Takes about an hour to do VoG 11 hours/ 1 hours = 11, so 11 full VoG completions. You have a decent amount of armor after 11 VoG completions

        • I am getting almost as tired of seeing these kinds of posts, as I am of seei g the ones where people bitch about this weapon is op or the ones where people complain about supers. Let's just kick this misconception in the balls: "it's not fair that people can just buy their way to level X" Buying implies that someone just logged on and got to level 31 without any effort. Complete bullshit. There is no "buying" in Destiny. The basic economy is this time=level & gear. No one bought their gear. They devoted time to get the badges, commedations, lvling gear, gathering glimmer, vendor rep, and -blam!-ing ridiculous mats. No matter what you think, people put in time and effort to "buy their gear". Even after that they still do not get to the highest level. That is reserved for those who raid consistently. The reason people are so mad is that there is not enough differentiation between Raiders and non Raiders. You wanna strut like a peacock. Too bad. You got weapons, gear, and a level I cant get unless I raid. I am ok with that. Dont piss on my parade. Grow the -blam!- up.

          • Did anyone else bother to look at this guys gear..?? He's ranting about being able to buy level 31 armor but yet his hunter has pieces of vendor gear.. His warlock has some as well.. Why complain about people buying their way to 31 when you've done the same thing.. Why not do the crota raid as a 30 and make it up to level 31/32.. See how ridiculous that sounds

When you think about how difficult it is for Bungie to release PvE content for free, and how the last attempt at a PvE "event" was largely a bust (Queen's Wrath), is it any surprise they had no choice but to allow these items to be purchased? What was their alternative? Well, I can see four ways they could have handled it. 1) Let 33-light gear drop in something like raid, but then they'd have to have two sets as they promised a rise in level cap to 32, which requires light-36 gear. So, two sets of raid gear in one raid? They *could* have let 33-light gear drop in normal and 36-light drop in hard, but that would have not gone over well. 2) Create more of a story/bounty system for obtaining 33-light gear and let 36-light gear drop in raid as is. But as we've seen, Bungie just doesn't seem capable of coming up with any PvE content that isn't just a rehash of everything they're forcing people to do over and over. 3) Delay the DLC, which in Destiny's case means "developer locked content." 4) Or simply only allow for 33-light gear to drop via engrams, which would have gone over with the player base like a lead balloon. So, they simply said "f**k it, just them them buy gear better than VoG" and went off for an early vacation.

            • VoG hard mode is getting level 32 gear correct? So basically it will have a point once that happens.

              • I feel like the raids should add to the experience. Like a rite of passage, to get to 30 you need the VoG. To hit 32 you need CE. To hit 34 you need HoW. By allowing people to purchase their way, there's no common ground for the playerbase and all you get is people saying that these stages are worthless. I see value in them and I'd like for everyone to have a story of the first time to completed each raid. I completely agree that vendors shouldn't sell gear that takes you to such high levels.

              • Not everyone wants to raid. And people who don't, still deserve to get level 31-32. Deal with it and quit whining.

                • I'm all for it, honestly. I'd rather they just buff VoG gear to level 31 as well. Now you not only have a chance to skip the vault, but it actually makes more sense to...

                • That's what happens when you use MMO mechanics in a fps. And so what? If they skip the vault they skip the vault. There is literally no down side to that.

I agree with this. You should have to do the raid or something equivalent in pvp to get the best gear. Also think they are digging themselves into a hole with the level tied to gear thing. Disclaimer: I bought my level 31 gear though, as there is nothing else to buy and RNG doesn't like me that much so I ground out the vanguard marks and bought the only things that were offered by that time.
