Yes a book written 1500 years ago, almost 500 years after the death of Jesus is true. My favorite parts are when Jesus is alone in the desert talking to God.

I'm christain and at least 50% is bs made up by "prophets"

I honestly think whoever wrote the bible was A. high as -blam!- or B. having a psychedelic trip and imagined it.
-
I'm religious but I always see the bible as stories and guidance, I think with all religious books it should be taken with a pinch of salt and not followed word for word
-
7 RespuestasIMO I think the bible is taking something from a bigger aspect and making it simple for man at that time, but in all, religion is a prison for those who don't see that bigger aspect of life.

1 RespuestaEditado por Un1337ninj4: 11/15/2014 5:03:22 PMEven among Christians this is debatable, given the history of the Bible the most accurate is the original Hebrew bible that includes books like Lilith which are withheld in modern bibles due to the Vatican, etc. Other than that it's about as true as any other divinity-based religion's scriptures.

Is your mom true?

Noah's Ark, water into wine, throw in a pretty garden, a talking snake, and a very vague omniscient being... Sounds like a bestseller to me. 10/10 -New York Times

1 RespuestaMaybe, maybe not. It's just writing in a book. Whether it's true or not is up to the reader.
-
1 RespuestaThat depends on what "true" means to you.
-
I don't get it to me it's fake and dum to you could be awesome
-
Was it meant to be true?

1 RespuestaJesus Christ, so much atheists

5 RespuestasWhat always starts these shitty debates is the OP's lack of understanding of the English language. "Is the Bible true?" is possibly the shittiest way you could have formed this question. How about, "Does the Bible contain a real historical account for all its characters?" To which, the answer would be a big fat NO.
-
Well, of course the Bible is true (i.e., historically speaking, the Bible is more than reliable). The argument comes about by people actually believe what the Bible says or not. In other words, we know the historical settings and characters of the Bible are real, some just dispute if the events took place or not.
-
There are accounts that Jesus had lived during his expected time, that's true. But some things in the Bible are parables and not to be taken too literally.
-
Its got excellent teachings that even the average athiest can use to benefit, but it contradicts itself so much that its honestly pretty hard to believe in. IMO Jesus was a great guy if he ever existed, then alot of the rest is shit.
-
Depends what you mean by true. I believe it to hold a mythos of the creation of the world. A early origin history of the main of the nation of Israel. A recording of the Laws of Moses. A history of Israel and Judah ( from a certain perspective). Some absolutely beautiful poetry, psalms, and Proverbs. And recording of the writings\visions of the major and minor prophets. Four stories of the life of Christ. And a whole lot of letters, missives, and teachings of the early leaders of the church. It is accurate? Accurate enough for me to learn from it.

17 RespuestasI dont understand why people get offended when I say I dont believe in a religion. I mean, I dont get offended when people dont believe in facts

I think a lot of people post their opinions but have never read it.

4 RespuestasOk so then why has the Bible been the number one selling book in over a thousand years why wasn't it the Quran or something and even if you don't believe in God because if your saying that when your dead your dead you have nothing to live for anyway so you might as well just believe in him.
-
Maybe some of it.
