This is a perfect example of why there is no open voice chat in game. Imagine hearing all this whining or bragging while running missions or waiting for friends in the tower. Thanks Bungie!

Why are so many people getting their panties in a bunch about this Vault of Glass Raid. Are your lives that boring and void of any achievements that you got to have a game give you what you're missing in real life. Don't understand it! Don't get me wrong, I'll try the Raid when I get to it but I won't be going full tilt trying to get there and finish it before someone else just to get a monument.

Bungie, I demand that when I go to bed and go to work everyone should be forced out of the game because they'll be playing when I'm not and it's a unfair advantage aimed against me.

Bungie devs are always the first they already done it during testing. It does not matter who does it first.

I find the conversations within this post intensely hilarious (nice work Brad!) and at the same time perplexing. Oh Ver driive, good luck with beating this game instantaneously but I feel like you already know this will take much longer. If anyone is still wondering the validity of attempting to beat the Vault of Glass raid on hard, let's gain some perspective shall we? In the recent weekly update, there was the brief Q&A towards the bottom where raids were discussed. When they brought up the topic of "after 16 hours these teams still hadn't beaten it" Luke Smith feels the need to break it down for us... These people got a chance to get "acquainted with the game" on day 1 and then were put into the raids. They then spent an entire "work" day (i assume) 8 - 10 hours on said raid and two groups made it to the final encounter but couldn't beat it (i.e. never defeated it after 8-10 hours). This little bit of info above should let you know how time consuming things will be. These guys had to have been bumped to at least level 22 to even participate in the thing (probably higher due to the level of enemies reaching beyond 30). So right off the bat, you're gonna have to level up to nearly a 30 to have the kind of abilities and firepower to finish this thing (the word finish here is important because even though two teams made it to the final encounter, they failed). Secondly, you HAVE to complete the raid on Normal before you can even ATTEMPT the Hard version (which, as stated in the weekly update, is the only thing that they are looking at in terms of World's First completion status). And if this is the case (which it is), then the weekly lockout may prevent you from gaining the gear and weapons you need in order to move forward in the Hard Raid. Lastly, it has been mentioned that the raids will evolve. In essence, they will not be the same when you play through it on Hard as it was on normal (an we're not just talking amount and aggressiveness of enemies). All in all, the point is that in this game, just as in life, it's the journey that's important and not the destination. Have a sick time with your buddies, get cool ass gear you can be proud of and consistently get better until you are finally able to beat this thing right. Monuments can be burned to the ground (*cough* Rome *cough*) but the journey is eternal. Fight hard fellow guardians, and I look forward to putting boot-to-ass on 9/9 when we hit the ground running! (P.S. Hit me up if you would like to get together for raiding and ALL things Destiny.)

We don't know how long it is to level up to 20. It can be 80 game hours.

Honestly, things like this have never really been about being the first for me. Personally, games were always about having fun and cherishing those awesome moments I had and sometimes shared with friends, not really about bragging I beat the game first. After that there's nothing much left to do in the game. It sounds corny, but the journey should feel more worthwhile than your final destination. If I read a book or watch a tv series really fast, I'm left kind of empty at the end because I've burnt through everything so quick that now there is nothing much left to look forward to. I rather be competitive and still learn to enjoy my time there than be racing towards a goal so much I don't take time to fully appreciate the entire game. We set these goals in games, so that we can have something to enhance our time spent playing. If we strive so hard and burnout on the content, the bragging rights of clearing a raid may not feel as rewarding as simply having fun at a good pace. It seems there are a lot of people who want to race to beat the vault and just play 24/7 through the whole game. I'm not saying forget about being first through the vault, but just remember why you really played the game in the first place. :)
