This post does not reflect anyone's views
It is not trying to question or impose beliefs on anyone
It is purely hypothetical
Let's say that you found out that God doesn't exist
This is final
This is undeniable
The only question now is
Would you tell the world?
They will believe it too
Would you tell the truth?
Or would you let the world hang on to their beliefs?

17 RespuestasYou go out looking to buy a Rolex wristwatch. You find one for sale at a dealer who assures you it is an authentic and will tell you the time perfectly, but best of all, he's going to sell it to you at only a quarter of the price you would normally pay for a brand new one. So you decide it's a great deal, hand over the cash, and leave a happy customer. A week later you notice it getting a little slow, so you figure the battery is just about dead and replace it a new one, but a few days later it starts happening again. You also notice that the day of the month seems a bit off - instead of changing from the 4th to the 5th, it went to the 7th. After a few more days the watch seems to have stopped with the hands stuck at 12:07. Your friend, who is an expert watchmaker, takes a look at your watch and discovers that it is not a Rolex, but a cheap Chinese counterfeit. He tells you he knows this because of the similarities between the poorly made gears in the watch - which have caused it to seize up - and the other counterfeit watches he has come across in his career, which he shows you. He concludes by telling you that you have been scammed and your money has been stolen. You tell him he is wrong and point to the working clocks on his wall, both analogue and digital, which all read 12:07, just as your watch does as well. He points out that in 52 seconds the clocks on his wall, in others' houses, and in the whole city will read 12:08 while yours will still read 12:07. He goes on to say that if you keep using and relying on your supposedly broken wristwatch to tell the time, it could have serious ramifications for you. For instance, he explains, you may have an appointment for a job interview at 2 o'clock, but if your watch always reads seven past twelve, you will always think you are early and have time to spare, miss your interview, and possibly never get the job. It would be a bad idea to rely on this, he says. At this point you think he's deliberately trying to insult your intelligence so you leave. In another 11 hours and 59 minutes you come back in the middle of the night and point at your watch: it reads 12:07, as do the clocks on the watchmaker's walls. He then says your watch is still broken and won't be able to tell the time in another 52 seconds. He then asks about the other 1436 minutes in the day, saying your watch won't be able to tell you when they are. He says you should just admit your watch is broken and that you need a better way to tell the time; maybe get one of those new digital watches which are far more accurate at telling time than the old analogue-style ones. You tell him no - that he's still wrong - and accuse him of having some agenda to get rid of analogue watches as you storm out of his house into the darkness. While walking back home you notice a sundial in someone's front yard and think to yourself, "now that's a broken clock".

Editado por THUNDERCHILD: 4/20/2014 3:23:13 PMIf I found proof I would tell, but... for the real believers, it doesn't matter what proof is presented, the whole point of their lives is blind faith. If aliens landed tomorrow and presented us with a complete video history of our evolution, from the primordial goop to Einstein, they would have to believe that the visitors were demons, and that they were experiencing a test of their faith. This is why it's best not to bother wasting any thought or effort to debate the more devout, they have no interest whatsoever ever in the real world, and there is literally nothing you could say to enlighten them. The argument not to tell, because suddenly morals wouldn't matter makes me sad. Why are some otherwise inteligent people so weak of mind that they need an all powerful father figure, waiting to spank them to keep themselves in line? Why can't they live good lives just because it's the right thing to do?
-
10 RespuestasWouldn't say a word..that would provoke mass anarchy as everyone would be buggin that morals really don't matter

I would because I think that people need the truth. Yeah, I have always been all for religion and people believing in whatever they want to believe in (I personally don't believe in one) but I think that people have been wondering for ages so to just put an end to it all I think it would. People will believe in themselves and not need a god if there certainly isn't one so it could have ups and downs
-
People need hope, that extra push to make life meaningful. Not everyone can live their lives knowing that their actions are pointless in a grand scheme, I myself am put at ill ease by the thought (not religious though). So I would tell no one.

3 RespuestasIt would be pointless unless I had the ability to access or transcribe the proof gained, but yeah. And then I'd laugh at the world for being as naive as ever.

2 RespuestasI would tell the world. Repeatedly. On every tv channel, radio station, form of social media, in every publication. It would break people's hearts. But force people to find internal motivations rather than being babies and requiring external reasons. I hate that people require the promise of something in order to just be good. Why can't they just be good and not need the promise of some reward in the end? People are weak and weakness shits me.

1 RespuestaMy answer depends on what you mean exactly by believe. If they believe it, and they accept it, then we can all move on to bigger, greater things. However, if they believe it, but they don't accept it. that's different. All hell could break lose. Deep seeded beliefs would be shattered, priests would commonly be broken I'm sure, the trauma it would cause could be catastrophic on a world wide level. They may be religious, but they are still human. No one deserves that kind of trauma. Whether or not there is a god, or an afterlife at all, I can not say, prove, nor dis prove, but I believe that we, as humans, or weeding out religious followers that are holding us back. (Note; I said religious followers, not religion) Each generation there are fewer and fewer people holding us back because of religion. Accelerating that process to fast could get us into space faster, but when we get there, we may not be yet ready for what we find.

7 RespuestasI mean, if they have to believe me, then of course I would, but I know they wouldn't believe me, in which case I wouldn't have any reason to tell anyone. I wouldn't keep this to myself if there was a chance that all of humanity would accept this as truth, because something of this nature would accelerate the rate at which we achieve peace on earth. Imagine, there's no heaven. It's easy if you try. No Hell below us? Above, only sky. Truly, imagine if we all lived for today, and worked for a better tomorrow. Imagine, if all of humanity accepted the life we have now is all that we are given, and how greatly they would appreciate, love and admire the wonderful things of this world. Humanity would be much more peaceful, no religion, nothing to kill or die for. If we could all live as one, in peace and harmony. You may say I'm a dreamer, but dammit I really am not the only one.

2 RespuestasI'm right here, though.

3 RespuestasIdk how I would feel about that. Even if there were no God, I would still hope for some kind of afterlife, even though I would know that there most likely isn't one. Failing that, i would search for the key to Biological immortality.
