I think he deserved to be wiped out because he endangered the lives of others because of his stupid actions.

You don't 'deserve' something simply because you caused it to happen to you. Nature doesn't object judgement, It just does what it does because the conditions were right for whatever happened to actually happen. It's cause and effect. The notion of deserving something only exists as a concept conditioned by sentient minds who believe in it. In reality, it is just you and everyone else believing the guy deserved his fate. There is nothing enforcing that.

You are still responsible for everything you do while under the influence of alcohol. If you make a stupid decisions you are responsible for everything that happens as a result of it. He made a multitude of insanely stupid decisions in one night, therefore he had it coming.
