It is mind boggling to see why anyone would believe in this nonsense. Most people who don't believe in evolution are also religious. What do they say to discredit evolution? There is no complete fossil record so you can't prove the entire evolutionary line all the way back to the primordial soup, carbon dating is inaccurate, blah blah blah. Then you ask them what they believe in, and they say that they believe that God created all the animals. These kind of things just makes me want to bang my head against a desk in disbelief. And then they believe that the Flood in the Bible really happened and that Noah put all the animals on his little boat. But unless he has a boat that fits millions and millions of animals, it simply is impossible to have the diversity of life we have today without evolution. It hurts the brain to think that such idiotic, stupid people exist. It is almost an insult to Darwin's theory of natural selection that such people still walk the Earth. Don't even get me started on the guys who think that the Earth is 6000 years old or that God put fossils in the ground to test our faith or blah blah blah. I would also like to ask them where the hell heaven and hell are. Now that we have airplanes and we have explored the skies we still haven't run across heaven or some giant man sitting in the sky, where they supposedly are.
Aside from the blatantly obvious scientific inconsistencies there are also the philosophical errors and the contradictions within the Bible itself. Apparently God loves everyone but if you don't follow him and spend your entire life studying his bullshit you get sent to hell. Apparently Jesus dying somehow saved you from being blamed for some ancient guy eating an apple. Apparently God performs miracles but since Satan invented the camera they don't happen anymore. Apparently having a relationship with a psychic space zombie will lead to your salvation and guarantee your space in heaven after you die.
Discuss why people still believe in this bullshit; it is like one of those spam messages people put on Facebook saying if you don't repost this 10 times you will die a horrible death tonight.

1 Respuestalol you wouldnt say any of that to my face tho.

3 RespuestasI hate those empirical rationalists. All of their beliefs are based on blind faith and can't be proven! They believe that the human mind is capable of discerning truth from falsehood, even though we were the result of a random cosmic bang and that there is no way to prove the validity of logic without circular reasoning! Why don't we just become nihilists like Hume? Religious folks and irreligious folks who value rationalism are really no different.

>religion bashing thread >only mentions christians k lol, everyone. The only religion in the world is Christianity according to OP, LOL.

I believe in paragraphs.

3 RespuestasITT: wall of text Now that that's out of the way, I'm consistently amazed that so many people are either pro-evolution or pro-creationism but barely any are both. My view is that evolution is a part of God's creation. Who said that they have to be totally independent of each other? I'm also a bit curious why OP doesn't mention any religions other that Christianity? Christians aren't the only ones that believe Jesus existed. For example, I believe the Muslims say he existed, but was just a prophet.

Did we evolve from ape--or is our intelligence the result of contact with an otherworldly source? Could unexplained advances in human evolution be the work of interstellar beings? 10,000-year-old petroglyphs link our ancient ancestors with star beings. Editado por Kalameet: 2/5/2013 6:23:24 PMI'm inclined to agree. But tolerance, man. Tolerance. Unless ,of course, it's Westboro Baptist Church we're talking about...

Somehow people have forgotten about the "play nice" rule just because we can talk about politics and religion now.

1 RespuestaSee, I'm not religious. But I'm also not a terrible person. And I can respect other beliefs. Due to this, I am obligated to mute you. You're probably going to get a lot of people doing this. So ask yourself: Is a blatant attempt to make people feel bad really worth ruining your experience on this site by nobody talking to you? Disgusting and stupid.

1 RespuestaI could care less what people's religious beliefs are as long as they're not trying to influence laws and politics. Which they do, and I have a problem with that.

3 RespuestasWhy do you care so much? Let them believe whatever they want, why do some atheist's think they can tell people what to do. Let them believe in whatever they want as long as they're not all in your face about it.

Are you really going to be this ignorant?

7 Respuestas*Zips flamesuit* 1. I don't think all of the Bible was meant to be taken literally. A whole lot of it seems like figurative language and symbolism. 2. Nowhere in the Bible does it state the world and everything was made 6,000 years ago. 3. Think of Heaven and Hell as two dimensions different from ours, hence why there is no heaven above the actual clouds of Earth and in space. 4. God truly does love you. It's just that the punishment for sin is spiritual death and He can only save you if you ask Him for it. 5. Jesus being sent to die for us (aka paying a debt we couldn't ever pay) should show you something; God loves us enough that He'd send His Son to die for us. 6. Miracles still happen, just not on a scale as grand as in the Bible. That's what faith is for. 7. Opinions. I hope some of this helped.

Brandorobot just brought up the main point that people should consider. Having religious beliefs is fine to a certain degree. You can believe in your unicorns and santas, I couldn't care less. What people need to realize is that respect is earned, NOT assumed. And the other side to this is tolerance. It's the thing everyone deserves but there's a catch: Tolerance can be lost. And when your beliefs start to negatively affect the world around you, the tolerance for your beliefs is lost.

Its people like you that give Atheists a bad name, and no, I am not an atheist.

What if some religion is real? The OP is going to hell.... Hopefully.

This is so new and exciting and I've never seen this opinion anywhere before!

I know it's tough... But there's little we can do. Also, you just triggered the most severe shitstorm in ages. *grabs popcorn*
