Ultimately the reason they are doing it is for cosmetic reasons, that's the one thing I think they need to leave behind to respect the people who played the game during the low points (launch through curse of Osiris and a little of warmind, etc etc) and those who have routinely came back to this game for the armor and weapons. when they cycle it through like they are doing then it negates all the work people put in for the stuff. Why grind anything when we know there is going to be a simpler way to get the loot we want

Yeah, why grind for armor when you can just wait two years and get it. If you knew that going in, would you go ahead and grind for it and enjoy it for two years, or would you wait 2 years to be able to get it for free? I think we both know the answer to that. The Fourth Mark exotic ship is a good example. I grinded the crap out of that boss mission during the year of the Season of the Hunt. I finally got that ship after probably almost 100 runs (I think it had a 1% chance of dropping). I have only played with probably 4 or 5 other players since then who had it equipped. I am sure it is rare. Do I take pride that I have it while others don't? Sure. Were there players who wanted it and ran that mission over and over and over but never got it? You bet. Should they just never get the ship, not because they didn't try or because they weren't committed enough, but because they drop rate was so bad that many just burned out running those missions back to back to back? I don't think so. Will it make mine a little less special if everyone has it? Probably, but number one it is just a game, and number two, I will know how hard I worked for it. That is all that matters.
