It's treasure Island but instead of Muppets its in space, with aliens! jokes aside this movie is really interesting in setting, character, and those smoother than butter transitions. Top points are: 1. Transitions. Oh boy, the transitions in this movie between scenes and during montages are incredible on their own. It keeps your attention on the action and moves the transitions with the transitions, making it feel smooth, even if its going from current time to flash back in a matter of seconds over and over. 2. Music. Now music to start was very understated and used to help with impactful moments, but with the montage the music becomes a part of the story and improves impact of that montage. The end song as well fits quite well. 3. Characters. The Characters in this movie feel real, with flaws, and they have beliefs that they stick to. The character growth from Jim and Silver are also incredibly well done and feel real. 4. Pretty. This movies mix of CG and Hand drawn is unique and absolutely beautiful to watch in motion. Silver's arm is full of so much mechanical motion that it feels as though it's real in spite of being a multitool of impossibly infinite usefulness. The ship as well is fantastic to look at along with all the weird looking squid men, chicken ladies, dog people, and others. Its brilliant to look at in still and even better in motion. 5. Overall. This movie looks, sounds, and is written beautifully. This movie is fantastic and I highly recommend it. It reminds me of how I remember treasure island being as a kid: Fantastical and fun. This movie beats treasure island by one hell of a margin (It's even better than the Muppet one, but only barely. I do like me some Muppets.) Score: 9/10 Greatly recommended, one of the greats.
