I mean really, out of all the 600 guns in this game, it's rare to see anything out of a select 40. And that's probably pushing it. Also, not counting the fact that 10 of those see more use than the other 30 combined.
I'm pulling these numbers out of my ass, but am I wrong?

Only 60 of our current weapons I think will be infusable when the expansion drops. There will be gaps that need to be filled with next seasons weapons and what’s to come in the expansion itself but each season that goes by if we are to always have a complete set of each weapon type then it’s going to be more and more predictable as to what weapons we should expect to come each season and if they don’t fill the gaps then they are even more restricting our loadouts for endgame and competitive pvp.

I have non-meta weapons I like using, and now they're gonna be made obsolete because a bunch of players can't put down their Mindbenders, Recluse, and Spare Rations. And I can't count on Bungie to put out enough weapons to replace all the ones they're cycling out. Fuck Sunsetting. That shit only works in other games because they can put out an adequate amount of new loot to replace them. Can Bungie do that? I highly doubt it.
-
1 RespuestaYes your wrong. I dont use any of the meta weapons. Bungie sunsetting most if not all the weapons I use come season 12. I carry almost max allowed on each character. Have to hope that Bungie releases NEW weapons in each archetype I am currently using. Which I seriously doubt.
-
1 RespuestaEditado por The Sauce: 5/26/2020 9:13:23 PMYes. There are currently only 230 weapons, many of which are unobtainable or do not have mod slot. You are right about only a few weapons being used though.

4 RespuestasI use like 4 legendary weapons at this point. Spare, mountaintop, felwinters and last hope.
-
Please think about wtaf you said and edit..... I mean reeeeeeeeeally think about what you just said. Because I'd really hate to have to point out the glaring obvious.....ooooooo mmmmmmyy gooood you're so du....uuuuuhhhh!
-
4 RespuestasPopular guns are popular but that doesn't mean people don't use unpopular guns. Some people's favorite guns are guns you've even heard of. My Arc Emperor's Envy is one of my favorite weapons I've kept it for a long time. You're going to tell me that I can't use it anymore because people won't stop using Recluse?
-
8 RespuestasAnd this hurts all the players that spent time carving out a niche with non meta weapons. Why do we have to be punished because YOU simple minded asses don't know how to put the same 2-3 archetypes away?
-
2 RespuestasExactly. Every single year bungie adds a bunch of weapons, and throughout the year I never see more than 10 being used. Spare rations Mindbenders Truth Izanagis Recluse The IB grenade launcher People are complaining that they "can't use my favorite weapons!!!" But their favorite weapons are always the meta weapons, so this change won't affect them at all since they would've just hopped to the next meta train as soon as they could.
-
Do you mean “wouldn’t” be an issue? If so I agree. If Bungie added the amount of loot a game like Destiny deserves, no one would have a problem because everyone could happily trust Bungie to add new, quality gear to the game regularly. As it is now, they don’t, so this plan is freaking people out.
I'm pulling these numbers out of my ass, but am I wrong?
Deep lol

2 RespuestasPeople seem to forget that each new season launches with new guns, and if there's a expansion coming in September (which is when loot retirement actually starts, not next season as many people seem to act) then it'll have a lot of new weapons as well.

To be fair, when the entire game is dictated by damage and reload perks, any that don't have that particular combination is going to be bad by default which is a problem that sunsetting doesn't fix. This smg can't be good because without these perks it's under powered and a waste of time to farm (which it is). While this smg that rolls master of arms and feeding frenzy, no matter how bad smgs are, will always look good because it gets carried by its perks. And since the meta for pve is always set in stone in that way, it literally comes down to nothing but stats which bungie refuses to make gear similar to the best of the best as of right now or has done so very reluctantly. Their relunctancy to make other weapons stats good "because of" the current system, paired with how necessary the right perks are is ultimately why nothing changes. It's so set in stone, that no matter how unique they can try to get, unless it's a damage perk, a reload perk, or something stupidly high in stats...nobody will care. Now how does this change with sunsetting? They say they can make perks that are more unique or more powerful...but unless it's better than kill clip or feeding frenzy nobody is going to care, and if they do you get power creep for a whole year. If they make a really high stat weapon but then create more afterwards that are inferior nobody is going to care, which is stat power creep for a whole year. They are literally putting themselves in a situation, where the only way to go is up...just like now. And sure, its forcibly ejected from viability in a year...but that's still a whole year of potentially nothing changing. Of nothing surpassing what you have. And with it having an expiration date, you also have no reason to obtain it or hold onto it either. You basically end up with the same but less. They could make an smg better than recluse, but if each consecutive smg afterwards isn't better its worthless both as an investment in time and in endgame content. The game is possibly going to see either the WORST power creep destiny 2 is ever going to see, or nothing will change. And they need to think about that now rather than later, because it is a very real possibility and has shown itself to be one in pretty much any looter shooter type game that has ever been made, it going away after a year makes little to no difference. Especially since the sandbox will likely be shaped around said perks...which could ultimately leave the game in a state of samey boredom. I hope I'm not just rambling nonsense though. This particular situation is one of the few where I would rather be wrong than right.

It's funny I feel the same way. I have about six load ups that I use between my three characters. In my vault I have 405 weapons while I have 75 pieces of gear. If I was to use any gun out of the 405 I probably would use about 10 because I'm swapping out with my characters and trying to leave room for loot. If I had more than nine spots on my character... Let's say they gave me 15, then I wouldn't need to pull anything out of my vault.

Personally, since Shadowkeep dropped, it's felt as though the team has been purposefully holding back from trying to outdo the Y2 Pinnacles especially since they way they were recieved and subsequently nerfed. My issue with all of Y1 and now currently Y3 is that there just simply isn't any weapons worth obtaining. Because heaven forbid they start making guns/perks that offer a better experience than someone's Midnight Coup. Personally I blame the non-sunsetting people for having the time limit actually imposed on our gear. I believe in freedom to use whatever, but don't start complaining when better stuff is released and takes huge smelly dumps on your favorite outdated rust bucket or niche roll. The natural way got the Pinnacles nerfed. This is the only other option and assuming they don't drop the ball with perks, it'll be the best thing to happen to the Destiny 2 loot system.

Editado por LocoToopa: 5/24/2020 4:59:20 PMJust remove infusion and go back to like it was in D1 vanilla. Simple. Etheric light was the start of the cancer of this game. Then came 3 of coins...(thank Krug that was abolished) and loot began to be rained down on us with ease until we reached where we are and everything is meaningless. Bring back rare and difficult loot. I want that yessss feeling when I finally get the item I've been hunting.

Many players get attached to off-meta gear. I'm willing to bet you're in that group. The issues with retirement are largely due to the notion of "reissuing" weapons. Having to grind and invest resources for the exact same gear we've already earned before is the most scummy way of extending gameplay, full stop. The other problem comes from Destiny's infamously bad RNG. It can take weeks or months to find a god roll. Guns having a shelf life doesn't mix well with this at all. In order for Sunsetting to work, there should be more ways to get masterwork materials and more efficient ways to farm for the perk rolls you want so players can enjoy their gear as long as they can until the next wave of retirements.

Are those 40 overpowered? If yes I'm all for hitting the standouts. If no then that's player choice which should be respected.

The numbers are out of your ass but the idea is spot on. Very well put.
