• Because they act like they can speak for the community, and demand a harder, grindier game to accommodate the 40+ hours they play each week. In turn, this makes the game harder for still dedicated players who have less than half that much time to play each week. Furthermore, they act like everyone should be at their skill level, and whine when bungie makes things easier for the average player. Last December, bungie said they'd fix the Last Word on console to make it feel like it did in D1, but got shouted down by streamers who were scared of a weapon average players could succeed with.

    • Same reason everyone hates politicians. They only care about their own well being while masquerading as the voice of a community.

      • I think destiny 2 is the only example of a game community hating their most popular streamer, like you don't see fortnite hating ninja or overwatch hating kephri Main reason why is cause Destiny 2 only listens to him and he always cries for nerfs to stuff, I understand that as a game company, you're supposed to listen to people and what they want, especially if it's someone that's helping to keep your game popular so naturally you'll add what they want But just cause 1 person said it, doesn't mean the rest wants it, like if I worked at McDonald's and I saw Obama came in with a bunch of children and Obama asks "Can I get a chicken sandwich for all these children" but instead the children ask "But we want a cheeseburger", who do you listen to?

        • I get that this was destiny-specific, but I’ll answer anyway. I don’t hate the source, the people making the content. But I am rather annoyed and perplexed as to how other people seemingly care so much about YouTubers or streamers. “Back in my day” you got a game and played it yourself. Maybe you watched someone else play while you were on the couch next to him.

There’s a reason there’s a meme going around called Dattokeep. I don’t necessarily agree with it completely but there is no denying the streamers have a larger voice than the community does. This means their opinions will be seen as the community’s opinion. Now as for where the community is coming from, they see it as Bungie pandering to their requests a few times now and have made life harder for regular players. While I don’t see it that way, a lot of people do and they hate the streamers for it. Essentially they’d rather see the streamers just STFU and stop giving their opinions because they believe it harms the game.

            • I only hate a certain community of content creators. That being said I love other groups as well. I mostly dislike streamers/youtubers who’s soul purpose is money. I do it to entertain people and so should they. I also dislike the ones who do it just to complain about a game constantly by saying oh I wish this would change I wish the game devs would allow this blah blah blah. I also can’t stand a good portion of gaming news channels. Mostly the ones that repeat the same topics every video and push videos out to ten minutes to earn more money. The ones who release three videos a day about tweets Instagram posts slight wording in game articles. Houndish for example is someone I can’t stand. Destiny news channel filled with nonsense and garbage.

              • I don't hate them, it's just what they do is worthless to me. I'm capable of figuring a video game out on my own, so I don't need strategy, how to, or "god roll" guides. I also don't care to watch someone play a video game.

              • 100% casual here Have no issues with streamers whatsoever =) They’re allowed an opinion the same as the rest of us, they just have a wider audience because of their profession. People that hate steamers or youtubers are possibly jealous that these people are seen as a community ‘voice’ and they aren’t, that the individuals opinion is not the same as their own

                  • I think the only bad streamers/YouTubers are the ones that are essentially bought. Those fake reactions in that casino 2K20 commercial for example. When you buy off the content creators, you get a false and rigged narrative. Datto is very opinionated a lot of times, but that doesn’t mean his opinion is wrong. It’s his opinion. We also have to remember that Destiny 2 vanilla was basically Bungie going all on on the casual audience and we all know how that turned out. Nothing is inherently wrong with streamers or YouTubers and if you think they are, well, I think you need to get over yourself. And the silly people who think making YouTube videos are easy, well, you never spent 16 hours editing to make a 10 minute video.

                  • A small group of people on a forum that only has a fraction of people playing the game on it, is not "casuals", it's a small group of people. But if I had to guess it is because they think & express themselves in absolutes & gross generalizations. Pretty much like you saying all casuals hate streamers.

                  • I used to be a hardcore player back in D1, but due to scheduling I've become more of a filthy casual. XD I don't hate streamers/youtubers, but they do have a louder voice than most of us because of all of their followers. I personally thought sunshot was fine. Hunters had the reload dodge, Titans had Rally and Warlocks had their spots on the ground. Then again, I'm that Titan you see walking around with Sweet Business and War Rig just mowing the lawn Predator Style. XD

I just can't take them serious when they say pve or PvP is "too easy" when they always run in stacked teams of the best players in the game.

                      • We don't hate them but here are problems: 1.Youtuber/streamers perspective is different/wrong for casuals. Casuals make up the most of the of the games players.....we pay bungies bills. Not Youtuber/streamers. We have jobs, families, and other things in our lives that takes our time. We play this game.....as a game, for entertainment. Youtuber/streamers don't do that. 2. Youtuber/streamers play and make content for the game as a job. They started doing this because playing a game was fun.....once they have covered all the content it becomes what casuals have to do pay the rent......a JOB. Its called work for a reason. When Youtuber/streamers rant about stuff being too easy, to simple, too whatever, their perspective is totally different than the casual who have a life and don't agree that everything in the game is too easy. They also make controversial content as click bait. 3. Youtuber/streamers have too much influence with Bungie and don't pay the bills....remember casuals to that. Its become evident that bungie listens to Youtuber/streamers making the false assumption that casuals agree with Youtuber/streamers. Datto is a good example of this. Just because Datto says something is easy, needs to be nerfed, ect doesn't make it so to the casual world. Nerfing Well auto loading and MT is a good example. How many people have MT????? When a Youtuber/streamers say Well + MT are to good during a raid and something has to be done about it...what for maybe for 5% of the players that have MT????? but not the community at large. So the real question is this a Youtuber/streamers faults or Bungies? Not all Youtuber/streamers are this way but it only takes a few for bungie to listen too that turns a causals off them. Youtuber/streamers do provide useful information and some are entertaining but when their influence changes the game that's when things go wrong.

                      • I don't hate streamers at all. I watch quite of few of them. Sometimes they give valuable information, sometimes they are way out in left field. It depends. I like going to them for latest news, commentary, tips and strategy. I don't always agree with them, but that's okay. What I don't like is when Bungie seems to take what they say as gospel. Some of these guys are hardcore expert players and what they want doesn't match what casual players want. Take Datto's silly rant on Well of Radiance. Nobody is forcing the guy to use it, but that's not enough for him. No, the entire community needs to be forced to play the way he wants. It's nonsense to me. So, I always take what these guys say with a grain of salt.

Bungie please pay attention to this thread. Please re-think your marketing strategy. This is proof that your so called "Destiny Community" is broken.
