My first thought is that at least they'll probably fix this in Destiny 2.
But then my second thought is that the actual "fix" will be the removal of the Ward of Dawn. Also self-rez, Blink, Storm Trance...
I really want them to learn from the failures of CoD:IW and Titanfall 2. I want them to learn from the successes of NieR, HZD, and Legend of Zelda. But there's this nagging little voice in the back of mind constantly telling me that they're much more likely to err on the side of generic gameplay and dated mechanics rather than take a risk on anything new and innovative. I believe it just might be the voice of experience.

Titan fall 2 a failure?
-
Yes. Titanfall 2, in spite of receiving high praise from fans and critics alike, suffered from "substantially disappointing" sales. See my previous response. https://www.bungie.net/en/Forum/Post/224751698/0/0/1

Because of the release it barely lost game of the year and is still a popular game today
-
It's sales were so bad that EA's stock was downgraded. Seriously, read the other post. I've had this argument too many times already. I'm sick of repeating myself.
-
Because of its release date it would be better if it came out around Christmas or later it's still a good game it's only the sales

Horizon Zero Dawn.

I was just thinking this earlier today. I hope Destiny 2 is everything we want in a Destiny game, period. I mean that Bungie has learned from everything that went wrong with D1 and will do it much better this time around. But then there's Activision... so, it's pretty much up in the air till Beta/release.

I don't know about you, but I find Destiny to be vary new and innovative, and I'm terrified that they are going to make destiny two into another cod, just space based. I wouldn't really call destiny a true RPG, but removal of the RPG elements it has would be utterly catastrophic and ruin what made Destiny great.
-
I get you. As I replied in another comment, I hope they learn from the bad we all went through and improve on it. Were they to take out the RPG-ish element out of this game, unfortunately I'd have to move on.
-
We share some of the same fears. My only point of contention is that many of the potentially innovative elements of the game seem thus far seem to be half-heartedly implemented. For example, the "shared world" is little more than a glorified lobby system as is, and some of the RPG elements seem shallow and tacked on rather than integrated into a well-polished system.

What did Titanfall 2 fail at?
-
It didn't sell. If you really want a post mortem, I'd say it's chief failure was that, while it was an excellent example of its genre, it was too close to most of the other examples of the genre, and that made it hard for it to stand out in an already overcrowded field. The reason that's important is because Destiny 2 is planned to be launch in that same window this year, against a similar roster of competition. The three successful games I named all exceeded their sales targets in spite of being released within the same two week period and being broadly catagorized in the same genre. Each of those games were the product of developers that took risks and stepped outside their comfort zones, and that allowed them all to coexist without diminishing one another. That's what I hope, perhaps in vain, Bungie is doing with Destiny 2. And now that I've spelled it all out, I'm just going to link future Titanfall 2 fans to this response. I can understand why that game inspires the dedication it does, but answering the same question over and over is exhausting.

Sorry, never really care about that stuff. If I saw a game I was interested in I'd buy it and if I liked it I kept playing it. Don't really pay attention to recommendations from other people
-
I'd like to see self-res removed and replaced with a res team member effect instead and I've been maining a Warlock since release day.
-
Porque no las dos? If anything needs to be replaced (or just buffed) it's Song of Flame. I say leave Fireborn alone and add your suggested effect to that talent.
-
but then people will just say that a warlock is a marcy ripoff because they no not

Titanfall 2 isn't a failure. It's a great game.
-
It's a great, but short lived campaign. Multiplayer is awesome too, but nowhere near enough maps. Also, pussies don't seem to want to play free for all (their version of rumble). Every time I try, there's not enough people to start the damn thing. What really pisses me off is the movement though, it's excellent that you can climb, free run, and vault, wall run etc everything but because you can do that, it gets so confused. You end up climbing up a f***ing doorframe when all you're trying to do is jump. Or getting stuck dead in your tracks on a patio table when you wanted to vault it. It's real fun, honestly, but no way is there as much content as Destiny.
-
I bought it, played a couple story missions, played some PvP and got bored of it fast
-
It's a fantastic game, according to nearly everyone who bought it. Too bad not many people bought it.

I never said it was a bad game. I said it was a commercial failure.

We all know that consumers are 80% idiots who fall for the same marketing tricks time and again.
