"What's the deal with Warlocks?"

I've seen ALOT of hate on the warlock lately. It's always been there, but recently there is more and more of it. Well, I'm here to ask all of YOU why you really think it needs a nerf? don't tell me because grenades. I want a real reason. I don't need video proof, but you need to come up with a real answer. not 5 words. I've been reading that people have an issue with firebolts. why? they don't kill. at all. unless your low on health. every other grenade kills tho, even the wombo combo (yes I know it takes 2) radiance with firebolt? That's a super. it's supposed to get you easy kills, just like bladedancer, striker, Nova bomb, etc. It's more difficult than those though because you actually have to aim like with gunslinger. same with solar grenades. I could never tell you the amount of times I've seen a striker get a triple kill with his super. I've never once bitched about it. I don't because I understand it's supposed to kill me more easily than I can kill him with an auto rifle. That's the whole point of a "super ". What is your issue with the warlock, why, and if it can't be countered, why not? I'm sure some will troll this, but I hope someone out there can try and convince me that my warlock is more "OP" than your shadestepping invisible Hunter.

  • You didn't hear it as much in year one because everyone hated hunters more. Then we got sufficiently nerfed. Now everyone is realizing warlocks are a crutch class for an easy 1.0 or higher. I play all 3 classes and warlocks are significantly easier to go positive with. Especially sunsinger. The other 2 subclasses are fine though

    Personally, I have just 3 problems with Warlocks. 1. I started the game as a warlock, I've played friends' warlocks, I've seen other people play warlocks. they're a crutch class in my opinion (slay me). from my own personal experience I found that warlocks take very little skill to use (and yes I've played all 3 subclasses, not all on my warlock though.) 2. I saw someone say self-res is an "instant redo button" which I agree with. if you die, you should have to respawn or be revived by another teammate just like anyone else. and using the argument that you can be sniped out of it is also kind of sad, because snipers can kill a whole lot of things, not just poor warlocks. 3. the melee range is RIDICULOUS. I would understand if all 3 were fairly close to each other, but the melee range for the warlock is much further than that of hunters and Titans. I'm talking about default melee, not anything special. so no one complain about throwing knives or smoke grenades that require a charge. get on YouTube and look for "bada$$ gaming melee range test" and see what I mean

    • So people only complain about a few things: Melee range. Firebolts with ToF and VF. Flame Shield. Complaining about these things is quite petty considering that Sunsinger relies on some of these. I use Fusions but it seems very stupid that people complain about these things. The Melee range is fine as it is. Titans have an insta-kill dino arm and Hunters have a wombo combo and Throwing knives. Seems fair to me. Firebolts with ToF and VF are fine too. Like I said before, Hunters got Wombo combo, abd Tripmines and Titans got Lightning Grenades, Fusion Grenades, and Suppressor Grenades alos seems fair. Who gives a flying f*ck about Flame Shield? Titans got the Dino arms with insta kill and they even get more agility so they can punch me twice before I can say "OH SH*T!" Face it. People who can't adapt to these abilities are just need to leave them alone and hell then they might even adapt to them. I learned how to counter those Firebolts by walking straight into them and it works. I learned to adapt to the Wombo Combo by adjusting my position. I learned how to adapt to Tripmines and Lightnings by backing up and shooting them. Suppressor Grenades.... I just don't even care do I? Hunters have three subclasses built for PvE and Titans have two and Warlocks can rotate every once and awhile. Neither of these classes are for noobs. None of them are for scrubs or casuals. Just deal with it.

    • Only issue i have is with Warlock Melee distance, FFS you gotta touch me to Melee me. I mean come on, Hunter and titan have to be in your face to melee, but warlock? Ever see a titan try and ,melee you from to far away, lmao looks like TRex arms. But Yeah that melee range is to far.

      • Simple - warlocks are easy to use. Just floof around and toss firebolts everywhere. When you die you can self res and throw even more firebolts everywhere. One firebolt grenade plus minimal damage equals kill. Nightstalker - not as easy to use. Shadestep takes practice and skill, so does a wombo combo. Not to mention the super actually takes a thing call "aiming". I'm not salty, I have a warlock and a hunter. Going off experience though, Warlocks are a 100% crutch class and require the least amount of skill. [spoiler]with the exception of Voidwalkers, who actually take a lot of skill to master[/spoiler]

        • Okay, here we go. Warlocks, quite simply, are the devs' favorites. Most of them main Warlocks. This wouldn't be a problem, but recently it's been pretty annoying the way Warlocks are buffed to be way 'better' than the other two classes. [i][u]Scumsingers[/u][/i] - Flame shield allows people to win a melee fight when charged, no matter who attacked first (unless being Backstabbed or Shoulder Charged) - Firebolts + Touch of Flame ± Viking Funeral takes someone out of the fight for an unreasonable amount of time, not to mention that with VF active it kills you if someone so much as sneezes on you. - Fusion grenades are annoying. Just plain, f*cking annoying. All sticky grenades are. - Self res in the Crucible is for sore losers. Instant "redo" button, and more often than not the Scumsinger in question has some bullshit gun that they already wounded someone with. Now they have to fight you again while you're chugging Sunny D from inside your helmet. "Look ma! No hands!" - Tossing 1,001 grenades would be fine if two of them weren't cheesier than Kraft products. [i][u]Scrubcaller[/u][/i] - Transcendence turns Scrubtrance into a panic button. Depends on the user, but in my experience, this is what happens. - Stupid amounts of melee range. - Scrubtrance does a ton of damage per tick, and can shut down an Arc Blade thanks to it requiring two supered knife swipes to kill a Scrubtrance Warlock. Not only does it undermine the entire purpose of the subclass, it also means that Scrubcallers get a reaction time that they shouldn't, and they end up frying anyone and everyone. Once in their range, you aren't getting out. - Arcbolts originated with Bladedancers. Stormcaller ones can be better. Flat out better. It doesn't take an exotic slot either. [i][u]Voidf*ckers[/u][/i] -Nova Bomb can regenerate health. This rewards a Panic Super, which no Super should do. - Axion Bolts track for a long time, taking you out of the fight for an unreasonable amount of time. - Life Steal triggers on hit, giving the chance to win a melee fight the Voidwalker didn't start. - Grenade spam. - When using Scatter grenades and Nothing Manacles, the grenade itself is essentially just a "better" Swarm grenade. - Life regeneration on grenade, Super, and melee kill (no cooldown) allows for ridiculous instances of fighting a Warlock who, upon turning a corner, suddenly has full health because some idiot was killed by the grenade.

          • I've played all three. I've got issues with Warlocks... But I also have issues with every class. I will say, Voidwalker might be the class I picked up quickest (not [i]mastered[/i], but I found it easy to use.) That doesn't mean it's inherently OP. Warlocks, like [i]every[/i] class, have their strengths... They also have weaknesses. I learned those weaknesses playing as them. [spoiler]If someone thinks they're OP, stop trying to melee them and stay out of their impressive melee reach. Warlocks are best engaged from range.[/spoiler]

          • Firebolt and its 2 other perks are too strong. If bungie wanted to create a balanced and competitive pvp they should have fixed it together with other issues ages ago but they dont really care about that. Just take pvp as it is and have fun with it. If you dont - switch to another game

            • No idea. Of the three classes it's the one I play the least.. that Floating target jump just sucks. Void-walker isn't too bad but I'm not a huge fan of the grenades and the Nova bomb animation takes a little bit too long . compared to fist of havoc it's really not as good in many situations

            • Its warlock bashing season. I main a warlock but have a hunter and titan. Never used a hunter in pvp but have used the other two. I found the titan was easier to use and kill with than the warlock. All the nerf posts should just be ignored..

                The way Warlocks behave irks me. Most other classes I see try to fight it out until they die, but Warlocks? Not even. At the very thought of getting half-health, they chuck a firebolt grenade and duck behind a corner, making, potentially, an entire team vulnerable for 14 seconds. Do you realize how much time that is in something like Trials? I would honestly prefer being stuck by a fusion grenade than being tagged by a firebolt grenade. When you're dead, you can still make call-outs to your team. However, when you're only [i]tagged[/i] with a grenade, you can't do that. You also can't fight, otherwise you'll be insta-killed. They reward cowardly gameplay, which is part of what is making the Crucible so slow nowadays.

                  • I've had a Warlock since day 1 I still have only 1 Warlock Things I've learned 1. Grenades All Void nades DO NOT KILL IN 1 HIT All Arc nades DO NOT KILL IN 1 HIT Solar nades only FUSION kills if it sticks 2. Getting hit by enemy Warlocks ALL VOID NADES KILL ME IN 1 ALL ARC NADES KILL ME IN 1 ALL SOLAR NADES KILL ME IN 1 ALL HUNTER NADES KILL IN 1 ALL TITAN NADES KILL IN 1 Melees Every class's melee is a 2 hit kill Getting hit by enemy Warlock is a 1 hit kill ALL HUNTER MELEE KILLS ME IN 1 ALL TITAN MELEE KILLS ME IN 1 Supers I get 1 Nova Bomb Golden Gun gets 3 minimum and doesn't miss Bladedancer lasts about 5 minutes and can circle a map twice killing everyone on it twice even after respawns as it lasts that long Titans get about 10 Hammers all 1 hit kills If I get hit during Nova Bomb I die Bladedancer need multiple shotguns Hammers even more Warlocks are by far the most underpowered class in PVP. Makes me proud to be a Warlock as being the underdog and still kicking ass feels good. Amount of Cry Nerfs on the forums =0 Play with whoever you want and how you want I enjoy the challenge.

                          • I went flawless this weekend and I was too lazy to play on my Titan so I just went on my Warlock (main) to help my friends get flawless. Believe it or not I have never used Firebolts until now. And low and behold I was nasty with'em. I got so much Hate mail like damn. I still love Fusions though. Warlocks aren't even a noob class. None of the classes are. I just don't get why people get that in their thick skulls. They got killed by it alot I guess? But Firebolts make up for self res. Because it can be countered by Sniper or a Shotgun which is BS but I can deal with it.

                          • I don't believe in the nerf everything in the game. So I'm not advocating a nerf here. If anything I need to question is the melee range. Wow, sometimes it's seems like they are face palming me from way across the room. That's the only questionable thing on the warlock for me.

                          • Only 2-3 things need changing with warcocks. -Range of Melee is way to big -Should be shield on kill like Defenders -Firebolt Grenade should take longer to use instead of being able to spam ridiculously
