Subclass Nerfs....the Data

With ample recent threads calling for 'adjustments' to various subclasses, I thought that I would interject with some data. The following table is generated from the following website: http://guardian.gg/en It includes all data from the Trials of Osiris for the past seven days. I chose this game mode because most of the recent nerf chatter has been directed toward the Sunsinger subclass, with comments that the subclass underperforms in 6v6 modes but is overpowered in elimination and other 3v3 modes. The first number given is the overall subclass K/D, the second is the K/D of the build that performed the best within that subclass. Subclass_____K/D_____Best Build K/D Sunsinger_____0.98____1.08 (Firebolt grenade with ToF and VF) Voidwalker____1.06____1.10-1.12 Stormcaller____0.89____0.98 Defender______0.95_____1.09 Sunbreaker____0.97_____0.98 Striker_________1.04_____1.04-1.06 Nightstalker___0.96_____1.08-1.09 Gunslinger_____1.03____1.05 Bladedancer___1.11____1.24 With the best-performing overall builds, the subclasses can then be ranked by K/D as follows: 1. Bladedancer 2. Voidwalker 3, 4, 5. Sunsinger, Nightstalker, Defender (tie) 6, 7. Striker, Gunslinger (tie) 8, 9. Stormcaller, Sunbreaker (tie) In terms of win percent, the Bladedancer and Sunsinger take the lead with ~54% each, with the Striker and Voidwalker tied for second place at ~52%. So although it seems that having a Sunsinger on your team is just as advantageous as having a Bladedancer, it is not the Sunsinger that is getting the actual kills. One obvious caveat is that the Sunsinger K/D data can be difficult to interpret given that once or perhaps twice per game they have the opportunity to get killed a second time. This may depress the K/D somewhat, but is unlikely to depress the K/D substantially as it would amount to realistically no more than one death per game. At the same time, however, the self-revive also offers the opportunity for the Sunsinger to get more kills, perhaps increasing their K/D. In this regard, the overall win percent helps to provide more guidance. Obviously K/D and win percent do not tell the whole tale. I make no assertions that is the case. Unfortunately, we don't have access to other data that might be helpful in examining the performance of the subclasses in 3v3 game modes. Anecdotal statements of someone getting killed by something are not evidence, they are personal experience. Helpful, but prove little. If you have anything to add to the actual data that may help in drawing conclusions, please comment below. If you would rather belittle, insult, or make conclusions based on personal experience or on what 'everybody clearly knows is fact' without evidence, you will be muted. Make your own conclusions, but I think that something is quite clear. Sunbreakers need a buff. tldr; If you can't take the time to read the post, your input is not wanted. Edit Regarding what I determined to be the 'best builds' - I simply looked at the super/grenade/melee or other perk selection that resulted in the highest subclass K/D. In some cases, the build was obvious - as in the case of Sunsinger and the grenade build. With others, it wasn't as obvious that certain selections necessarily always go together - the choice of grenade and super perk selection for the Striker, for example. That is why some of them have a range - it is the range of the best K/D for the subclass based on build choices that didn't obviously go together. Edit 2 In truth, my comment about the Sunbreaker was somewhat of a joke. I do think the class got hit too hard with the nerfhammer, but that class (along with Stromtrance) does much better when you look at the 6v6 data. You can't rack up the kills with a roaming super if you are limited to at most three kills in the round. I prefaced the post with a statement about Sunsingers, and feel that the data appear to support the assertion that the Sunsinger class rises near the top in Trials, but does not break away from the other subclasses in terms of its effectiveness. The conclusion that Sunsingers don't appear to be overpowered is what most people would take away from the data presented...rather than say that outright I chose to make a comment about Sunbreakers. My attempt at humor appears to have fallen flat. Apologies to Sunbreakers...I still do think you could use a little buff, but that wasn't the point of this post. Closing Going to bed now, have to work early and long tomorrow and for the next few days. Will not likely be posting any more responses to comments. Thank you all for your interest.
