TRIALS IS RUINED
I remember the days when my fireteam and I were going to the lighthouse almost every weekend. Now, apparently its only possible if you play the game for a F'ing living!
We range from light 302-306 and as soon as we hit 7 wins the table is flipped completely upside down. I guess bungie decided not to incorporate light level into the matchmaking? Its all about how many wins you have. Nice move guys.
So if you can't raid and you rely on trials to get the best rewards, think again, because its near god damn impossible getting to the lighthouse now.
It's funny how we only see guys around 313-316 light, and guns that are 20 light lvls higher than ours when we get that far.
Does anyone else have an issue with the new matchmaking? I feel like the best endgame activity is going downhill and its sad to see.

Well you see, this isn't Year 1 anymore so now your opponents get chosen on how many wins you/they have. It's skill based now. Gone are the days where you go to the Lighthouse because you got lucky fighting scrub teams.

10 RespuestasYa it took me 4 tries this weekend to get flawless. Everytime we'd be 8-0 and we'd get defeated by absolute sweaty try hards. We got very exhausted after Twenty-sumthin non stop matches of coming one win away to the ultimate victory. Finally we decided to try on the least try hard day. Monday. The last game the other team just gave us the win. So here's a tip. Try on Monday

Yes it's all about how many wins you have, so you will have to play, on average, better teams the further you progress on your passage. This is the best way for them to do matchmaking for trials. You have to beat other teams who are the same place in their passages as you are in order to progress, so matchmaking for trials is actually fair now which makes it more difficult. You just have to get better and/or play better.

Haven't played much trials since TTK this past weekend however my normal trials group got on and we ranged from 311-13 and went flawless our first go no losses. The competition was higher light towards 8-9 wins but we beat them pretty easily. Just need to me more skillful and accurate shooting since light is lower

They essentially took away "RNG-Matchmaking" and implemented "skill-based" matchmaking, so if you are 7-0 you should ideally be playing another 7-0 team. Since this is a skill-based competition, or at least supposed to be, that makes better sense than getting your 9th win off of a team that is wiping for coins... PS: I have not been back to the lighthouse either since this change, but I still think it was the right move and I am devoting a lot of time trying to "get gud" enough to go back!

Without looking at your kd or stats I can assume you and your fireteam are garbage if you really think light level makes a significant difference. Me and 2 other went to light house using icebreakers and ghorn for heavy round. None of us were over 300 light.

You're just trying to make up excuses on why you hate that you have to fight skilled players as you get closer to lighthouse. This is the way trials should be. It shouldn't be based on luck. Last time you could just get lucky and fight noobs all the way to nine wins and boom lighthouse.

1 RespuestaI do appreciate how this sounds but I'll go right ahead and say it anyway ... I have on occasion, as a team of 310-315, been beaten by a team of 290-300 with flawless emblems. I appreciate that i need to git gud but also that some players are maybe 10% better at PvP than me. 15 light levels means maybe 1.5% (based on Bungie data), so I'm always going to lose to a more skilled team. As you progress in trials the skill of players increases irrespective of their light level. So at 7-0 light matters a lot less than skill.

I went flawless with my clan when I was a mere 250 light, my Titan was carried from 250-301 and still holds a 1.8 k/d in trials. It's not hard, you just need to get a little better :)

Same here. I hate the matchmaking now. Went flawless quite a few times when my team was online, but now it's just a struggle of 7-1 or 8-1.

The matchmaking was improved, way better than year 1 trials.

a ten point difference is no difference, at 20 points its barely noticeable. As long as you are light 301 no team has an advantage over you (that you can truly tell) anyone who says otherwise is fear mongering. Now I will give you the fact that at about win 6 or 7 (not 7 wins because with boons that is a flawless card) the competition actually starts to exist. wins 1 and 2 are like playing people who just bought destiny, and win 8 and 9 are people who have gone to the lighthouse (normally). I find it awesome now that I actually find myself 'trying' towards the end of a card. I think matchmaking has done a much better job. The only thing that frustrates me is the (now rare) occasion where you play the same team again. Especially if they have a red bar on their squad.

I think it's more fun and challenging now. My ToO team is all 302. We've gone to the lighthouse every attempt. You have to play smarter when up against higher ranks, but the damage falloff isn't even noticeable. I still 3 shot those guys with headshots, and a snipe to the head will take down a freshly revived guy. It's so much more fun playing against people that (humblebrag) don't suck and that you actually have to work together with your team to beat them. It adds a lot more excitement and angst
