I was really bored yesterday and went back to my trusty SUROS (the one auto rifle I likely will never delete...okay, Y2 Hard Light will be added once I get it) and decided to try out the focused fire, to see if it was even worth using.
Man, it really hasn't changed much.
Sure, it does 34 per headshot in effective range. But the effective range is so short that competing with any weapon is a nightmare. I'd compare the range before any damage falloff to a SUROS PDX-45 without any range buffs. The fastest firing scout rifle archetype with Full Auto is miles better than the Regime with Focused Fire. Better range overall, better stability in general, more damage, more accuracy...the disadvantages are slim, minus the lack of a supercharged Glass Half Full plus a chance at healing, if you manage to proc it.
So, long range it's useless. How about close range? Well, if this thing killed any slower I would think it's an uncommon. If you're looking for a weapon to let shotgun users kill you, look no further. The abysmal TTK combined with the low stability makes this weapon a peashooter.
I think Spinning Up was Bungie trying to make the SUROS viable since Focused Fire on the SUROS, or any low RoF auto rifle as it truly should be (a mid-range combat weapon) is outside of their "weapon goals."
TL;DR: SUROS Regime needs some, not all, but some of its pre-nerf range and accuracy back. Maybe look at the Dealbreaker too. I've gotten three with Focused Fire already.

7 RespuestasWith Focused Fire it hits for 34 damage per headshot. It is definitely a medium range weapon. You keep people at a reasonable distance and it does great. It certainly isn't Red Death, but Red Death won't be Red Death this time next week.
