I was excited for MGSV. Absolutely thrilled for the conclusion of the story.
However, it launched with a major game breaking glitch. It launched with several bugs that aren't game breaking but still very unnecessary. It launched with cut content. It launched with an unfinished story. This game was still amazing with all of its faults, however it does not give a publisher the right to release a game in this condition.
Ultimately, this is the current state of affairs in the gaming world. Day 1 patches, broken launches, broken games that remain broken longer than they should, cut content in the form of DLC, preorder bonuses that add zero integrity to the game, and shotty craftsmanship.
I am now convinced that I would be better off waiting for its first major price drop at the soonest, when most of the bugs and patches have all been taken care of. I'm even willing to wait for "ultimate editions" or "goty editions" so I can get the DLC included in my purchase.
The gaming industry is going to collapse under its own weight again. Just like 1983, we are seeing countless titles being pushed out just to maintain cash flow for the same companies releasing half assed games. It's just a matter of time. Until then, I plan on keeping as much of my own money as I can.
