Calling Warlock Swordbearers!
Ok, looking for some tips / advice in running sword on Crota Hard as a Warlock. I hate the warlock jump/glide so I always get to Crota too late and either I can't get enough hits on him or I slowly glide away and he kills me.
What is your set up like? Any gear you recommend?
What side do you like to jump from to reach Crota? Right or left?
How do you time it from the time you tell your fireteam to shoot rockets to the time you actually jump up to sword him?
I've only successfully sworded him once so far but I would like to get good with the mechanics so any tips would help.
Edit: Thanks for all the responses! Some of you have been asking what my build is. I have the full Crota armor set (Helmet, Gloves, Chest, Boots). As far as exotic helmets, I don't have the Ram, but I do have the Apothesis Veil which regens health with super. I also put my warlock at max agility and equip MIDA. Generally I'm mainly a Sunslinger but if you guys recommend Voidwalker I'll change to that instead.
Edit 2: I'm pretty sure I have the right equipment. My main problem is the timing with the sword to be sure I get enough hits on him and can safely get away before sword disappears.

I always use the left rock and jump up and use the melee to speed up the shitty warlock jump. I never go for more then 3 hit with the warlock. Just play it safe. Also use the in air melee to escape from crota. That being said I feel like the warlock is the most difficult character class to carry sword with. Edit. Use the lower of the 2 rocks and crouch so crota can't shoot you. Call out for rockets and start jumping as soon as you see the first one connect. It only takes 3 rockets (might be 2 with ghally) to down him so if you have the fire power to down him you should be jumping up right before he goes down. Should give you time to hit him 3 times.
