What you're referring to is rampant. It's unfortunate, but unsurprising. It's rather difficult to expect the gaming community to change, despite its need to, given its inherent anonymity and virtually no impetus to drive any such change. Sad, but true. I think, at the end of the day, you simply report those who verbally accost/abuse and do your best to surround yourself with like-minded gamers who are in it for the community and the fun rather than misogynistic catharsis.
