If anything xur has increased the time people play the game. Not everybody can do the raid 500 times a week, heck most destiny players can't even do the raid at all since there is no matchmaking. I was looking over my destiny trophies the other night (ps4) and the trophy for "complete a raid" has only been obtained by 16% of the ps4 destiny population.... Only 16%!!! Clearly most players can't do the raid since they don't have access to 5 other dedicated fireteam members. The only other decent way to get a chance at an exotic is doing the nightfall, but the results are similar since there is no matchmaking. This leaves the majority of destiny players without solid options to acquire new weapons, and when xur sells a weapon somebody wants that person will now play destiny even longer. Cause let's face it, the only reason to keep playing destiny is so we can get new toys to play with.
