•
Think about it.. Edit: Xur is here to help casuals (nubs), but in return it hurts the hard core player base and removes the rarity from all exotics. Also limits progression. No Xur means you'll have to work for all your exotics, no just play 3 strikes and buy it right off the bat. Exotics are as of now, way too easy to obtain, either make Xur price them higher or make a list of exotic that only he will sell. 2nd edit: I see most of the hate is coming from the nubs who solely depend on Xur for exotics, devs really need to find a way to please both sides. Right now all they've done is cater to the casuals and left the pros(seasoned players) out to dry. This is only one of many issue thatestiny right now that has hindered that game, the others are the aim assist(that cannot be disabled) and the 3 month cycle wipes to the community . This is a complaint about the 0% progression in this game , it is not just about Xur. There needs to be more of an achievement in this game for the more seasoned players to strive for. Final Edit: 90% of the hate comments proves my point, this game was meant for nubs and to turn away anything remotely otherwise. 75% of those comments would be from children (easy to tell when they insult you right off the bat, instead of making an actual argument) http://www.bungie.net/en/Forum/Post/93150406/0/0
I disagree. Who cares if noobs have exotics? They won't have the skill to use them, and surely a seasoned long time pro can take them down in pvp? I'm not slating your point, just failing to see what it is

      • Judging by the comments, it sounds like you're hating on Xur because he sells weapons you received at random. Really? Because you play waaaaaay too much you think that you earned your weapons? Meanwhile, guys and gals like me who don't have time to play so much but still want to use the awesome weapons need a fallback. It's the difference in buying the game and winning it in a raffle. If anything, Xur shoppers are the ones who earn their weapons. We go out, do the weekly, EARN our money, pay Xur, new toys! All you did was play nonstop. I know, I know, it was a post about how Xur weapons should be more of a challenge to get. HELLO! THE WEEKLY IS OMNIGUL! Leave Britney Spears aloooooooooone! *clears throat* I mean Xur! He's the only way I can get any exotics, I don't have time to play raids and Nightfalls nonstop for a chance to earn a random piece. Like I said before, the smartest you could've done was close the topic, except it's drawing in even more attention.

It's far from charity though. Casual players don't have time for three characters or farming public events and ROC strikes for strange coins. When Xür comes around they have to ask themselves every time if it's something they really want because the next week he might sell something they feel they need. Look at my game time. I'm far from a casual or a noob but I was very pleased Xür sold Icebreaker because I have never been lucky with the RNG loot system in this game. There are many others who share the same experience as me. You would be far more sympathetic to the plight of people like us if you weren't so lucky. Really though I'm keen to know how your "thinking about it" dreamt up that it hurts hardcore players? Does it hurt you that other players in a cooperative game also have great guns? Does it hurt you that new players are able to improve faster and become more useful team mates? Does it hurt you that crucible can become an even playing field, where you can improve your own skill, because everyone has access to the same equipment?
Think about it..

Think about it..

Think about it..

Also limits progression.
How?! Does it limit your progression to light level 32 because other players obtain the same high quality equipment and are able to help you finish content faster? Does it limit your progression of completing your exotic collection because other players, who have not yet received it from RNG, are able to add it to theirs as well? Does it limit your progression in terms of improvement in crucible because you're playing against players with equipment of an equivalent level?
Think about it..

Think about it..

Think about it..

No Xur means you'll have to work for all your exotics, no just play 3 strikes and buy it right off the bat.
I work for all my exotics. Without Xür I'd still have Suros, Vex, Thunderlord, Dragon's Breath, Truth, Pocket Infinity, Invective, Thorn, Super Good Advice, Bad Juju, and Universal Remote. I still haven't received the guns I want most though. Xür doesn't ruin this game for me. He saves it because otherwise my frustrations with the RNG loot system would stop me from playing. Just because you're fortunate doesn't mean every one with a similar level of commitment to the game shares the same experience as you. The best player in my raid team has over 1000 hours but still no Gjallarhorn.
Think about it..

Think about it..

Think about it..

This is a complaint about the 0% progression in this game , it is not just about Xur. There needs to be more of an achievement in this game for the more seasoned players to strive for.
Obvious paths of progression in Destiny: - Complete console trophies/achievements specific to the game - Max out all six possible subclasses - Achieve level 32 on each of the three classes - Increase your grimoire score - Improve your skills and crucible rankings - Collect exotic and raid gear I have significant play time and not even close to achieving all these. The game is not massive, despite assertions from many a fanboy that it is an MMO. If you feel you've run out of progression already then perhaps it's a good sign you're putting too much time into the game and you can play less and take up another game or another hobby. Feeling "hurt" by Xür as a "seasoned player" is another good indication.
Think about it..

Think about it..

Think about it..
Serious question: did you think about anything you wrote or did you just want to rant because you somehow don't feel special anymore because other players get to have the same guns as you?

                • Judging by the replies, this looked like another "Xur is ruining Destiny!" thread. The fact is, this game is all about RNG. Technically, the only way to truly "earn" your exotic is to buy it from Xur with the Coins you've sweated for from Weekly Heroics and other activities. You know what the R in RNG stands for, right?

                              • (Not directed at you OP, just posting in the thread). I love hearing people blessed by RNGesus complain about those who aren't. NOTHING but pvp stats are earned in this game. Please, by the elitist logic I should have every exotic under the loot table since I've been playing since the week he sold gjallarhorn (I didn't have enough coins). I'm still missing Gjallarhorn, Red Death, Corrective Measure (VoG), Light of the Abyss, and Hunger of Crota (CE). Let's not forget that the first wave of Gjallarhorn owners bought it off of Xur.

I strongly disagree with these sentiments. Ideally, the longer you play the more likely you will collect a majority if not all exotics. However as Destiny has proven RNG is king. Which on the flip side means, at times regardless of time played you might not get all that lucky. Xur for all intents and purpose, is simply a reason to play. At the very least to knock out heroics and nightfalls every week. He is a money sink so we perpetually have a reason to spend our "special coins". Many MMOs have vendors like this, generally characters there who simply act as a reason to play because they offer something special. Unfortunately for Destiny outside of Xur and in a limited capacity, Vanguard vendors, the Crucible vendors are lack luster. This is due to the fact that all the mark vendors eventually become useless once you raid. Even those who do not raid, the "pvp only" crowd begin to truly find themselves wasting time as they max out their rep, sure they can get their hands on shaders/ships but that in itself is RNG. Sorry if I have been droning on. The point I am trying to make is that Destiny on the whole suffers from its own mechanisms which make up its faux economy. Players have short term goals presented to them, primarily farming marks for gear/rep to access the gear. But past that when you either acquire raid gear, or acquire all your pvp gear/weapons you want, you are left with little incentive. Enter Xur, a reason to engage in the "top tier" content. He alone is a vehicle with which players new and old can work towards something each week even if it feels (and is) monotonous. Why? Because he might have that upgrade/weapon/gear you have been searching for. That is apparently enough for a large number of people. Edit: For those "seasoned" players, the ones who have everything, sure there is almost nothing to do. But that is kind of their own fault. Only such that they literally have everything, when there is no new content (currently Crota HM for pve players is on the way) obviously some players are going to lose interest. In no way though is that Xur's fault. We all have to play to get coins, new or old players, we have all found Xur useful in some way.
