Exotics are just a novelty. They aren't necessarily the "end all, be all" of weaponry. They are not that important and certainly not a bragging right. You got lucky and RNG'd an exotic you didn't "do" anything special that made the game drop an exotic for you. It's like a slot machine you pull the handle and see what happens. The machine doesn't care if you're "skilled"; if the numbers line up you win...it's that simple.
