Lol is this guy for real? If I have the vanguard why wouldn't I hit 31 and make Crota that much easier. Your post makes no sense. I've completed vog on hard many many times pre Crota and now Crota no cheese btw.

The point is, at lvl 30 atheon/iron banner gear, you can simply play the raid for 1 piece of gear and use an exotic to be 31 on your way to 32 vs leveling separate gear for 31 that maxes at 31 and takes longer as 3 pieces are required to be level vs 1 and when finally that 1 piece is needed ANYWAY so leveling to 31 from 30 via vangaurd/faction is basically the same as leveling to 31 twice.

If u upgraded to 31 first week its reasonable as crota was harder than no one knew how to use sword and anyone could have been bearer

Having 1 31 for the sword was a well known thing since day 1 and your average player gets 1 piece of gear per run and if you didn't there's always next week. If you have 2 of the same class, even more likely to get 1 piece. That 1 piece will replace 3 pieces of gear. So basically yea you might want vangaurd/faction as the sword bearer for 1 single run.
