It would have been nice if they would allow you the chance to get Radiant Material from daily public events in additiona to Ascendant materials, strange coins and motes of light.
Let me trade in 10 ascendant shards for 1 Radiant shard please.

Umm . . . thanks for being Capt. Obvious as it's kind of hard to even want Radiant Materials unless you have Raid gear, which can only be obtained through the Raid. Bungie had already set a precedent by having VOG gear upgradeable through Ascendant materials that could be dropped from public events, Nightfalls and Daily missions.
