I for one would not be with someone who is in the military. It has nothing to do with life long dream, that is not the lifestyle I would want for myself or my children. Nor would I be with anyone else who had to constantly move and travel for their job. So then it is his decision whether to be with her or not - to decide what is more important to him.

Like I said, he could do one tour to get a taste of it. 2-4 years, and only real movement would be 1-6 months in the beginning for training. So that's not a lot of movement, unlike a career. But yes, at the end of the day, if the girlfriend will not support his life long dream, he has to decide what's more important. I vote life long dream being more important, since to my thinking, girlfriend/boyfriends are expendable and interchangeable. It's not like they're married, or even engaged, so can't be that serious. At the end of the day (and his life) he has to look in the mirror and justify his actions to himself, and no one else.
