So my girlfriend won't let me join the Marines, saying "she doesn't want the military as any part of her life"
It's been my life long dream to join the Marines.
What should I do?

3 Replies-blam!- her, she will end up with some guy named Jody while you're in boot camp anyways.

My boyfriends dream is to join the marines, I love him so of course I want to see him doing what he loves and accomplishing his dreams even if I'd prefer him to stay. What right would I have to tell him not to follow his dreams? I say join the marines and eventually you'll find a girl who supports you.

You should not ask a video game forum...

While you should take into consideration the feelings and wants of the people you care about, in the end, it is YOUR life and you must do what makes you happy.

1 ReplyI leave for Army BCT on the 20th. My girlfriend doesn't necessarily like that I'll be away from her for a while, but she respects my decision. At the the end of the day, you need to decide what's best for you. And please do not listen to these tin-foil hat, neck-beard idiots.

1 Reply"#Destiny" is ur girlfriends name Destiny?

Tell her it isnt your dream to join the marines, tell her you want to join it so you can help building on your country
-
It all depends on how much you love her.. is she more important than your dream? Is she worth it and stuff like that which is more valuable in your life

7 RepliesAs a Marine I will tell you that if you are going to decide to join based on a forum poll or your girlfriend's permission then the Corp. doesn't need you.

Dump her. Follow your dream, I did, it's the best thing I have ever done. Semper Fi

Listen to her.

Can't let her life dictate yours bro. If you want to serve your country that is your calling. She would be a real rotten bitch to keep you from that just because she has a beef with the military. I've seen too many young men and women pass up things like scholarships, military service, and pro sports invitationals just because they were in a relationship that was doomed from the beginning anyway. You go and make sure to tell her it's the right decision.

Obvious your not man enough for the marines. Just saying. A girlfriend. Really. OMG
-
<exmilitary listen to her . unless you want to be single and have all the hope for humanity that you have now stripped away.
-
Are you a man?! Do you even have balls hanging in between your legs?! If so, then there was no point in posting your thread.
-
If her girlfriend loves you she will be hesitant but will let you follow your dreams.
-
I'm guessing you are 17-20. Don't listen to her. You probably won't stay together long-term anyway. Tell her you don't want a pinko-loving commie in your life either. Also if you do join, don't be a dumb boot and get married. It will likely end in disaster.

Off topic -.-

Well she has given you the choice, the marines or her. She has said she doesn't want that life style so don't expect her to stay with you. You know in yourself what you want more, so, what hurts the most, loosing your gf or loosing the opportunity of being a marine. Little advice, you shouldnt let anyone get in the way of your dreams.

8 Replies-blam!- the military. Why would you want to go risk your life fighting over some oil?
-
3 RepliesListen to her. Do you really want to fight and die for a corporations oil greed?
