I do not agree with the persons post about childish, however some of the "no" votes might be from vets with multiple deployments.

Could be, I haven't heard anyone of my friends say they regretted it or don't join so I wouldn't know. I'm well aware that some people get jerked around while in the military, but overall I've only heard great things. There are some issues, but IMO overall it's a worthwhile experience where everyone should be forced to join like Israel. America would be 10x better than it is now if everyone had to join for 4-5 years.

But if people were forced to join, the constitution (that which military members defend) would be rendered pointless. Now we could get into the fact that the Founders may have expected people to join militias (state National Guards) but forced federal service, never their intent.

Yes I'm aware of that. Lets say that in the constitution it required for every citizen to serve 4 years. I get the whole land of the free and all that. I'm just saying that with the type of people that come out of the military, America would be in a much better place. There's to much anti military people when most assume if you sign on the dotted line that it's a given that you're going to hold a gun and kill civilians in foreign country's. Also if 4 years was required our government wouldn't be so -blam!-ed. Most have never served, including pretty much- if not all- of our recent presidents. Sending men to war, debating military issues, and cutting military benefits etc...when you've never served is asinine; which is exactly what our senate and congress is doing despite most of them having never served.

Whoa whoa whoa! All I meant was he really needed to decide for himself. Kids on these forums will hit YES just to do it.
