Did it as a lv29 warlock with two other people (lv 30 and a lv 28). I was actually using a rare level arc machine gun to take his shield down. I feel that his shield is pretty beefy and it regens very fast. So maybe having a constant dps with short pause(reload, etc) would be a better idea.
