I would like any evidence to support this.

  • Do you have any evidence to support the popular misconception that Destiny assigns loot based on RNG? When somebody can produce that, I'll spend the time to prove it's wrong. But there's no need. I've got a statistically significant conclusion. The RNG hypothesis is based on literally no evidence whatsoever.

  • I think there may be a misunderstanding as to what RNG means. RNG does not mean everything has an equal chance. It never did. It is implied at times, but things can be weighted and still be RNG. Example. You have the numbers 7-10. I have the number 6. Billy Bob has the numbers 1-5. Obviously our chances of winning are weighted. Then a Random Number Generator rolls a number. Whatever number is picked..."wins". Is this what you are implying happens with loot? If so, a weighted system does not mean RNG is not happening.

  • If I roll a dice 100 times and never get a six, you could say it's just bad luck. You MIGHT be right. I would say the dice is probably loaded (weighted). I would PROBABLY be right. It's more likely that I am right. I'd put money on it because let's face it I would be right. That is probability. That is statistics. It's the same with Destiny's so called RNG.

  • Each character has a local variable which we could call "pseudo-luck" which determines the character's chances of getting an item. Therefore, some characters have a much better chance of getting certain items than others. That stat appears to be permanent, though it might just change very slowly. We do not yet know whether this value is calculated based on aspects of the character, or assigned at random when the character is created. On top of that, each item has a global variable which we could call "drop rate" which is its percentage chance of being given. So, it is random for an individual character, but weighted by item. However, between characters it is not random.

  • I see a lot of theorizing with nothing to back it up.
