I would not have believed it myself without seeing it. I can only assume that Bungie has some special logic on top of the RNG which is there to try and improve the game in some way, but clearly it has side effects and the problem might even be a bug in the logic.

I think the game secretly wants me to play a Hunter. From Xûr Engrams I only got Hunter stuff, my Warlock main doesn't find anything but ships (which is kinda nice, I like ships). OK, last week I got Sunbreakers for the Nightfall... The only Legendary that dropped in Crucible was a heavy weapon, two were from leveling Vanguard. I have found only two legendary Engrams before patch, but they turned into Hunter stuff, of course, and a big none after patch. If it wasn't for Exotic Bounties I would only have the Icebreaker (which would be more fitting for how I want my Hunter, too). My gaming buddy, though... he finds a Legendary at least once a day. Two weeks or so ago, we had someone join a Tiger Strike, just at the Boss. He got The Last Word. While I wouldn't say my RNG sucks, at least I get exotic bounties, it sure as heck isn't what I see other people getting.

Sounds very similar.

I get where you are coming from, I play with my brother who has 100 less hours on his character than me and he has a far better load out and ALOT more ascendant materials + coins than me. But unless bungie admits there is some hidden attribute to luck, I'm thinking it's just an unfortunate coincidence.
