I ran through the steps of an exotic weapon bounty thinking it was a PvE thing. When I completed it, it revealed that Part 2 was PvP. I wasn't happy, but I simply discarded the quest in spite of the work I had already put in. I then received ANOTHER exotic weapon bounty that appeared to be a single part with no mention of further steps. When I completed it, another new bounty popped up - CRUCIBLE ONLY. I was enjoying mostly soloing the game in spite of the grind at times and thought I was doing all right. I played strikes with other people and it even had me searching for a clan to join - something I have never done in YEARS of gaming. Destiny inspired me to seek out other people - strangers, that is - to play with cooperatively. Any co-op game I have played in the past I have played exclusively with people I knew outside the game because I want to play with my friends, not necessarily use a game to make friends (not opposed to it, I'm just picky about who I call friend and it's tough to be selective in a game-based environment). Destiny has made me interested in finding Destiny players, finding friends and teammates among Destiny players, and playing with people all the time. However, there is one thing I do not enjoy, something I consider to be the most obnoxious of all forms of multiplayer gaming, and that is PvP. I'm way too old to put up with the immature fratboy behaviour and obnoxious 12 year olds who camp out to prove their (lack of) manhood by one shotting and harassing new players rather than helping. I have played PvP in many different types of games - MMOs, arenas, and so on - and have pretty much wound up despising it universally. So, when I put in an enormous amount of time on a couple of quests that didn't WARN ME in advance that I was going to have to go through some BS PvP gateway, I was furious. I STILL AM. Having this odious gameplay mode crammed down my throat by hiding 75% of the equipment behind it is bad enough. To then WASTE my effing time by having me jump through hoops and then snatching the prize away at the end demonstrates a contempt for anyone who wants to play co-operatively and not competitively with other people. We aren't all MLG wannabes, and having fun in competitive multiplayer takes a particular kind of gamer. Unfortunately, the subset of gamers who reflect poorly on the gaming community in the public eye are largely from this gamer subset - the uber-competitive, misogynistic, inflexible homophobes that make up a small percentage of real gamers but are the most prominently displayed example in the public eye and ruin things for everyone. These are the kind of people I've encountered for years that have and always will turn me off any forced competitive multiplayer. I seriously considered simply quitting the game when I received this "big reveal", but I have worked myself up to level 27 and, as I said, would really like to play co-op with people because it can be damn fun. But I can tell you one thing, from now on I will be looking up any bounties or quests on the web before I embark on them and discover I have to go be shot in the face by 9-year-old campers in order to unlock what I should be able to do through other means. TL;DR: Make a game that doesn't depend on the Crucible, Bungie. You want that component, fine but I agree with the OP: STOP SHOVING GARBAGE DOWN MY THROAT.

I was kinda mad about the exotic bounties too, even though I got one for a hand canon and don't even like the hand canons that much lol. -- It wasn't the fact that I had to do PVP to get it because I do enjoy PVP, it was the fact that it said 'you lose progress when you die' essentially. I needed 500 points in PVP with my void damage and I played a match and got 10 points, played another match and it went down to 7.... kept playing until eventually I noticed it was at 3 and said screw it, then abandoned the bounty because ain't nobody got time for that lol. To get to 500 points would have taken me forever. I'm okay at PVP, but not great... it all worked out though in the end anyways, because I kept playing Crucible and wound up getting an exotic auto rifle, which is my favorite weapon. -- I do agree though that there is a lot of focus in Destiny around doing Crucible. Not everyone likes it and while Bungie may wish for everyone to play it, there shouldn't be that kind of requirement in a game with PVE... in my opinion, at least. There are a lot of people that do like PVP, I don't think Bungie needs to be worried about people not playing it.

  • I understand your frustration but even so I am offended by you're post! I like PVE a lot in fact that is what I have put most of my time in to destiny doing, but I also love PVP! depending on my mood I find the skill level required to do well to be a positive challenge and in hundreds of hours of playing COD and other online shooter's I have rarely ever had an issue with peoples behavior. Do you not understand that by stereotyping gamers that play multi player as one type of person you are just furthering the very conceptions you claim to dislike yourself. Not everyone that plays PVP is a dick just like not everyone that plays PVE are nice respectful people. Categorizing people based on the type of activity they prefer is closed minded and offensive. Despite agreeing with your original point (you should be warned a bounty requires PVP steps) by the time I finished your post I was left feeling pissed of and disrespected as a gamer. I like both activity types so admittedly I am quite happy with the balance but I must say I haven't noticed it being to unbalanced toward PVP. Point being that attacking others is not going to help make your point it is just going to piss people off!! But hey turn the other check and all that, I hope you continue to enjoy the game despite your grievances, just don't judge an entire group of players by the actions of a few :)

You can be offended all you want. I said there is a subset of the competitive multiplayer community that makes up a small number of those who are held up by the media and celebrity types as everything that is wrong with gaming. If you are one of those people, then I am glad you are offended because most of the gaming community is offended by you. But since that is a SMALL number of obnoxious gamers the likelyhood is that it has nothing to do with you, so you're getting your thong in a bunch over something that wasn't even addressed to you.

  • Same here, I got a hand Cannon and I need to unlock the price by making 500 points in PVP.

  • Even worse, in that quest you can't use primary weapon, melee and super or you'll get no Mark even you kill many many.

  • Not true, you have to kill with Void damage so if your primary weapon, melee, and super are Void based, you get the points. Only class that does not have Void Melee and Super is hunter.

  • Fair enough, Void Class =/= Void Damage

  • Primary weapons do not have elemental damage. Only special and heavy weapons.

  • To be technical, there is one, Atheon's Epilogue (Void Auto Rifle), to be fair it's from Vault of Glass. Just gonna withdraw my original comment now and cry in the corner.

  • Seriously... are you daft? Hiding things behind a PvP wall wouldn't particularly benefit Activision, hiding them behind a paywall would.
