75% of all the legendaries are gated behind pvp rep / crucible marks
Almost all of the exotic bounties have difficult pvp steps
Thorn – Exotic Handgun -- Kill Guardians in the Crucible using void damage. Deaths slow your progress greatly!
Bad Juju – Exotic Pulse Rifle -- Fight in the Crucible and obtain 10,000 points and have a kill to death ratio above 1-1
Invective – Shotgun -- Fight in the Crucible and achieve 25 more kills than deaths.
Fate of All Fools – Exotic Scout Rifle -- Multiple PvP steps
Every special event that has occurred is occurring or is scheduled to occur is pvp oriented
Salvage - PvP
Combined Arms - PvP
Queen's Wrath - PvP/PvE
Iron Banner - PvP
I thought Queen's bounty was going to be a pure pve event, but alas 3 out of the 4 bounties for today are, you guessed it, pvp bounties.
Why the extreme bias in favor of pvp when this game was touted as a shared world, rpg style loot, exploration heavy, "play your way" kind of game?
If you're going to have all these pvp events and do nothing for the pvers you're cutting yourselves off at the knees, and the description of the game offered by Bungie feels misleading.
Possible solutions:
Give bounties dual objectives, 1 that's pvp centric and 1 that's pve centric and allow the player to choose which way to finish the bounties.
Open up all of the vendors to both currencies.
I understand that recycling PvP which kind of creates its own content is easier than creating something new for PvE, but I'd be happy even with a recycled content PvE event mixed in with all of the PvP events. Queen event is the best attempt at that thus far, but all of the other events are purely focused on PvP and it just feels as though the PvE is being jilted.

19 RepliesI can't believe people are defending Exotic Bounty PVP Gate. Do you really want a scrub PVP'er like me sitting in your game getting a 0.05 K/D% trying to get a exotic bounty completed? Cause that is what I'm doing. I don't care about your game. I don't care if I/you win. But I'm here because of a flawed system, and I'll stay here till it changes. I'm intentionally making your PVP experience suck because I also bring my friends to the same game. We are all doing the same thing. Keep it the same, I don't care. Change it, remove PVP from exotic bounties, and you wont see me again. You say I don't "have to" complete the exotic bounty. Your right, but I want to, and I am going to at your expense.
-
Yeah, I don't understand why faction vendors don't take Vanguard marks. You can get rep with them through that, so it's really -blam!-ing stupid that they only accept Crucible marks. Not to mention the PvP in this game blows thousands of dudes. If I want to play against other people, I'll go play Quake.
-
1 Replyi have 3 exotic bounties stuck on the pvp parts and i imaging more will be added in the future. what am i supposed to do
-
Destiny. What a fantastic game, however, I totally agree with Vishimtar's post.
-
Pvp is the thing that sells games. And it is a lot easier to get people to play multiplayer maps over an over again than it is to keep designing maps and missions for new things to do in pve. They're going with option 1....it's cheaper and easier
-
1 ReplyI agree totally! Pvp is filled with over competitive teabagging hooligans.
-
Or just use one of the multitude of other weapons available
-
agreed. i hate that broken pos they call a mp/pvp

12 RepliesEdited by suprem0815: 9/24/2014 4:01:57 PMTotally agree, If I want PvP I do it but forcing people with bounties to participate in something they don't like sux. I mean seriously .. 20 headshot with handgun .. lol? Don't misunderstand me, I don't say it's impossible but PvP and PvE headshots are from the difficulty totally different. And someone who is not into PvP will need days to achieve that with 100s of deads just because trying to get the fu**ing headshots. And on top, the people doing nothing else than this, which makes them useless for the whole team and most likely they contribute to a great lost match. All you do is creating frustrations in your player base. You have already the crubicle reputation for the PvP items, so stop that bullsh** of pushing people into crubicle please. Change that! Seriously! The game is nice but now with those "special events" and the force to do PvP you start making it not enjoyable anymore. And to all PvP fans, nothing against you and you should have your crubicle fun with special pvp items. And I feel sorry for you guys for all the PvE gimps (including me) destroying your fun now just because they try to get their bounties done. Cheers

I don't pvp, and I agree that most of the game is centred around that. It's gonna take me a long time to get items that will come easily to those that pvp. I hate it, and even if I have a whine about it, I don't think Bungie will listen or care. They'll just keep doing their own thing and screw over all the pve'ers.
-
Agreed. Couldn't agree less. I'm 100% PvE player. I tried PvP once, I got rekt'd. Lol.
-
1 ReplyExactly I refuse to play the broken unfun mess than is PVP in this game. There absolutly needs to be a faction or a path that requires NOTHING but PVE play. To have 99% of the game gated behind PVP leaves a ton of us out in the cold and you know what? There are far better games coming that are not PVP centric. You just lost expansion sales on a lot of people.
-
2 RepliesI wish they wouldn't shove PvE down my throat. Why can't this game be more like Call of Duty?
-
3 RepliesExactly. PvP is a joke. Would love to do PvP if it were a level playing field, but it's not. Level 20+ players do not belong on the same fire teams as lower level folks. It's really stupid of Bungie not to look for people who are at the same relative level when creating a PvP scenario. But getting killed as soon as I respawn buy some one I never see who has a legendary sniper rifle 20 times in 5 minutes isn't my idea of fun.

I and many others feel the exact same way. The fact that PvP is broken right now and not enjoyable just makes it that much worst. Please fix this!

5 RepliesI hate the Crucible. So much. It takes forever to get marks. All of the cool-looking legendary gear hinges on getting it. Why are ALL of the factions tied to it except the Vanguard? Story-wise, it makes no sense. Gameplay-wise, it makes no sense. Why force your players to do something they don't want to? By the same token, people who enjoy the Crucible shouldn't have to grind out strikes and patrols to get Vanguard stuff. Simplify the damn currency, already.
-
2 RepliesAgreed. I had an Exotic weapons bounty till it made me do PvP and I abandoned it. We shouldn't be forced to do PvP but should be given the choice between PvP or PvE.
-
No game should gate progression of any kind behind a singular path. Its bad design. Requisites should read "do pvp task" OR "do pve task."
-
Thank you! Bungie needs to get their heads out of their rumps and understand that not everyone wants to deal with the PvP kids. You know the ones I mean, foul mouthed, rude, taunting, disrespectful, harassing, and all around horrible young adults and children (though you could call all of them children by the way they act). Giving the PvP section easier and/or faster rewards only fuels the hate and animosity and should be removed or at least the rewards should be made inferior to the PvE counterparts. Bungie talks about the "Destiny Community", but PvP alone makes the game confrontational and negates anything done well in the co-operative side of things. To be brutally honest, we were misled and Destiny feels a lot like "Call of Halo", a PvP shooter with an infinitesimal campaign mode. I want to love the game so much, I played the Alpha and Beta, picked up a Ghost Edition and the whole nine yards. I pray that Bungie actually listens to the non-PvP feedback, but I'm not optimistic. Their track record isn't very good and it's only been what, two weeks? They only seem to care about the PvP crowd and if not fixed, we will just have too move onto greener pastures.

The crucible is one of the worst FPS multiplayers ive ever experienced. I too wish they would stop forcing it.
-
4 RepliesThis is all by design. Bungie saw the fall of halo and the rise of COD and so they decided that instead of purely ranked games, they needed to find a way to get lower skilled players to keep playing against higher skilled players. They achieve this by requiring PvE players to play PvP for certain loot, giving out random rewards for all, and making sure even the worst players can get a couple fun kills a game with their super. Then in turn, hard core PvP players can party up and roll through win after win against mostly randoms and feel like Gods. They use mics to communicate while their competitors can't, and not just for usual fps team strategy, but also to share special ammo drops and orbs for more supers. When a random gets fed up and quits mid-game, they throw in a new one to fill in, continually feeding the egos of the "skilled" PvP fire teams with a false sense of accomplishment. It's an attempt to keep both types of players satisfied enough to keep playing the game and pay for all the DLC.

9 RepliesLevel 28 Warlock. Haven't touched the Crucible once and I now have 2 exotic weapon bounties which are gated behind PvP. Why I've avoided the Crucible has more to do with the kinds of things I hear about it. Auto-rifles dominate, Fusion-Rifles and Shotguns are rampant, there's lag issues... For someone who's been an avid fan of Halo's multiplayer (1-3 and ODST for Firefight; Reach and 4 not anywhere near as much), the idea of a multiplayer dominated largely by weapons that require zero to little skill is just unappealing as hell. Why use any of the other primary weapon types when you can just light someone up in 1-2 seconds and kill them with an auto-rifle?
-
1 ReplyI am with you on this, now don't get me wrong I love playing Destiny and I do enjoy the PvP sometimes but I love doing the PvE that's just the type of player I am and I hope that soon we will get some more PvE events cos the queens one doesn't count most of the time half the bounties are PvP.

Well, PvP is a lot harder to do. You can predict the movements of an enemy in PvE but when you face somebody in the Crucible you don't really know what their next move could be. Of course you could have an educated guess on where they may move but at any time they can change it up and do something completely different
-
The only end game content out there right now is the raid, and PvP.
