We are aware there are some players that are not having a quality experience getting or staying connected to Destiny, even after following the troubleshooting steps. We will be updating the CATTLE/CATERPILLAR, CENTIPEDE, BEE/FLY/LION and BEAVER/FLATWORM/LEOPARD help articles with updates as we investigate.
Here are some links for those that want more info (scroll to the bottom of each article for updates):

-
I just read the new thing that does not help at all. and its not my ISP and i'm pretty sure everyone elses ISP is fine too so stop posting BS and fix this!
-
im in complete and utter agreement, with the amount of mass disconnects across multiple platforms from players all over the world... they can't possibly still think its on our end.. i have tried every other online game i own and they all work fine everyone ive talked to says the same. and asking us to disconnect all of our families devices hooked up to the internet just to play 1 game.. its unreal, ive seen mulitiple posts from bungie employees and you all ay the same thing its on the players end its getting a little frustrating. if your only getting 1 or 2 errors chances are it is something with your internet but like everyone says we seen enough animals to make a damn virtual zoo.
-
My internet is fine if it wasn't I wouldn't be able to tell you this. My internet is fine my xboxone internet is fine its your servers that aren't working.

Still waiting on a reply.

I rented this game yesterday to try it to see if like it...played for about six hours until i kept loosing connection to your servers...decided that I would shut down, get some sleep and start today to level up and do a little farming...ERROR...ERROR...ERROR...went to the website logged in no problem connecting and looking at my character and gear which I no longer have access to because your game servers. Well to make it short I had planned to purchased this game because I liked it but if this server system is as bad as I reading here...I will not buy.

I'm normally on the side of the company when it comes to connection issues, but this is absolutely ridiculous. I'm getting booted (or severe lag) within minutes of starting the game. This isn't an issue on my end if it's happening to every other player. Sort it out.
-
your lucky to even play I have been stuck on the black loading for the past three hours
-
BUNGIE, we are tired of your excuses. You invested 500+ million dollars into a game we invested because we believed in your service to the customer and delivering a great game... Why can't we play? Where's your customer service? This issue is on your end. You got your money and way more back, please use it to fix your game and allow the thousands of us who can't play, finally able to enjoy your game. Just don't sweep this issue under the rug, because you will piss off the wrong people and you will lose it all :(

What's the best way to get any customer support?
-
Yea! It's weekend & i can't play destiny,I can't stay in server for more than 5-10 mins,BUNGIE are you even trying to fix this or still checking money made on misleading pleople,It has be a week since the the game release & there is no update..
-
i think its absolutely ridiculous that you are asking everyone to troubleshoot there internet connection and so on, i guarantee that every other online game works perfectly for everyone, so its clearly a problem at your side. and quite frankly for £54 i expect a lot more to be done about this, and i am trying my best to get a refund as £54 spent and 10 minutes of gaming at a times not a good deal. its a joke

Edited by sillyoest1988: 9/20/2014 10:51:30 AMStill having problems here too. X1 with open NAT with all ports opened set to dmz. 50 down and 20 up Internet. Tried everything. Please help or respond saying you acknowledge at least. Love the game but just wish I could play more than 15 mins without being kicked by numerous animals.

ok call me a complainer, but you guys are seriously going to suggest that people unplug all there modem connections except for there xbox one, everytime they play? this is a joke, i can play world of warcraft on wifi and run smooth and yet i cant play a small game like this on wifi? your servers need tweaking or a crap load more. don't just slap duct tape on something people pay money for as the solution, fix it.
-
u r god damn right!!!

You can read my reply below for full background, but the short version is that if you have your router's firewall enabled, you can try to disable the firewall and possibly DDoS packet filtering and then test your connection again. That pretty much resolved my issues.
-
It resolved that one issue while creating more such as oh I dunno compromising your computers security leaving you vulnerable to viruses, malware and hacking? Wow, such resolve, much fix.

Edited by mikelimtw: 9/20/2014 11:24:07 PMMahziel there are people here actively trying to help others solve problems. If you aren't part of the solution, then at least stop being part of the problem. If you can't stop being part of the problem I suggest you return your game and just move along. If you believe that your router's firewall is the end-all solution to networked PC security, then you're just exposing your ridiculously low IQ. Maybe you should turn on that firewall between your brain and your mouth eh? As many routers come out of the box with the firewall default set to off as there are that come with it on. Also even with your router's firewall enabled, there are still many ways to pick up computer viruses and malware. That's why software firewalls exist and why it's a good idea to invest in anti-virus and anti-malware software. If you bothered to read my posts at all, you'd see that I strongly suggested to not use UPnP and DMZ which are the far bigger network security issues. Everyone concerned about security should be using port forwarding to minimize the number of ports exposed to the internet, which is exactly the way I suggest people configure their routers. And finally, the solution of turning off your router's firewall is a temporary one. You could just turn it back on when you're done playing dumbass.
-
I'm part of the problem? You're suggesting that people are getting error codes because of me. Are you retarded? While turning off the firewall isn't as bad as UPnP and DMZ it is still bad and turning it back on once you've finished playing just means you're creating a window of opportunity. It's not a temporary solution it's a temporary risk that we shouldn't have to take.

Edited by mikelimtw: 9/22/2014 2:52:07 AMRead the title of this thread. While I agree that we shouldn't have to do this and it is an issue that Bungie should fix, You are OFF TOPIC. We're talking about potential or temporary fixes for disconnect issues. You want to talk about network security risks from doing these things? Great. Start another thread.
-
I'm not off topic. Everyone else is talking about fixes, you're talking about compromising our safety. For arguments sake someone could take your advice and while they're playing Destiny someone could get into their personal information including credit card details. Steal all their money. Then as a joke fry their console. Now they can't play Destiny or any other game and can't afford to replace them because they're broke. Does that sound "fixed" to you? I'll grant that's unlikely and I'll concede that anyone who's serious about committing the crime wouldn't be stopped by such a basic thing. But that doesn't mean we should make it easier for anyone who decides to do so, by that logic I might as well leave my house unlocked whenever I go out because the chances of someone robbing my house specifically is pretty slim.

In any case, this may not be an issue for me and my ISP connection anymore. Everyday, I've been testing my connection with the firewall in my router both on and off. Before, with the firewall enabled, I was getting BEE, CENTIPEDE and CATERPILLAR. Today, for some reason, Destiny worked with the firewall on. I got no errors or disconnects in an entire hour of playing. Of course, this is just my current situation, everyone else's mileage may vary.
