Bungie please add quit ratio so that we may verbally smite the statpadders, ragequitters, and egotistical buttfaces before us. [Edit] Pic should be the waiting screen for them to get out of time-out penalty.
And here's something I came up with for people who want a better understanding of their stats. Based on quit ratio. Do not question my ratios I have done extensive research!!1!11one. Apply where necessary.
~10% or less - In the safe zone
You may have dcd before.
You may have quit a handful of games for one reason or another
You may have internet problems

~12-16% - Potential ragequitter
You have a tendency to ragequit
Your K/Dr is misleading
You've run out of excuses for having connection problems
PTFO
~17% and higher - K/D junkie/leech
You're a stat-padding ragequitter
You leech off and take advantage of those who choose to play the objective in team games.
Your K/Dr is invalid
MY OPINION
[Edit] Ok, these are suggestions I and OTHER PEOPLE have made for solutions to this problem. They are categorized by Penalty, Discouraging quits, Reward, and Other, in no particular order:
Penalty
1. Many like the idea of having lengthened time-out penalty that Reach had (see pic for wait screen reference)
2. K/Dr and/or W/L is affected negatively after a quit.
3. beta 3 suggests
I think a good way to get rid of those kd wankers would be to make it so that every time they leave a game, their stats for it are automatically 0 kills, 10 deaths. It would make sure that no matter how badly they're doing in game, it will usually be worse if they leave.
and
What about docking marks/reputation with the factions you're representing? It makes sense in the destiny universe and doesn't really harshly punish players who do it infrequently, but it will stack up if players do it a lot.
4. Mandalore Ix suggests:
How about a Scarlett Letter on the armor of the rage quitters or a banner with "Unworthy Guardian" titled. Maybe their ghost and sparrow look retarded and the sparrow's boost sputters.
5. Oh Maybe suggests:
Players who quit 20% and over should get a negative modifier on xp gains for a period of time across their account. Players who have under 5% should be rewarded with an xp gain.
Discourage quitters
1. Group the quitters with the quitters so they leave everyone else alone (semi hard mode to implement)
2. Get rid of K/Dr or don't emphasize it
3. Have a separate game mode that doesn't emphasize K/D
4. starshark suggests:
make a system that matches clans and parties so we dont get stuck with an unfair advantage.
5. Quit percentage should affect overall W/L
6. Quits from matches should affect overall K/Dr
Reward system
1. Reward those who stay and play
2. CheckForAPulse suggests:
Rewarding people who stay consecutive rounds could possibly work too, similar to daily login bonuses in games such as warframe. For example 5 consecutive full rounds get a small glimmer reward, stay 10 get an engram or something along those lines.
3. Muhpy adds:
The margin would slowly increase over time and would encourage good behavior while leaving those that rage quit out of the practically free glimmer(reward).
Other solutions
1. Option to avoid quitters and other unsavorables (Halo 3esque style)
2. fifthderelicte suggests:
it would be nice to have a multiplier for each teammate lost.
3. Muhpy suggests:
Lighter punishment for quitters and rewards those that stay as well as quitters that switch their behavior. Kind of like training and rewarding a dog with treats.
[edit] If you have any suggestions, feel free to share them. Trollposts need not apply, unless they are lulworthy.
Great ideas everyone, well done.
To be continued.

Thank you, just thank you.

One type of person that cares about punishing k/d players is a rocket launcher noob that does nothing to help a team by killing themself everytime they kill someone else. Lets stop these people too? Next you'll be complaining about people not quitting but that are hiding behind objects screaming "punish campers". Let people play (and Bungie will) however they want.
-
What a load of crap, youll get lots of top players with high quit rates, wher they pub for warm up or while they wait for clan mates to come online or between clan matches, not every player can fit in a game you do sound a bit butthurt, but the mp in this game is pub casual anyways, the only thing that remotely looks competitive is the trials
-
Called : " long ranged tactical retreat " Retreat far away from battle as possible to replenish regroup and rethink. Then come back and kill all those who marked you as a quitter
-
Edited by Blonded: 9/5/2014 12:08:11 PMYou do realise this is a Non-competitive MP game. There is nowhere near enough support for competitive play to consider putting in quit penalties. Not even halo had such drastic quit penalties like the ones you're suggesting. This thread doesn't even deserve consideration. Sorry! If some features get added to support competitive play then there will be quit penalties added where bungie see fit.
-
These are great ideas, Bungie should definitely consider them. We dont want Destiny to become like CoD dont we?
-
I wouldn't be a fan of time penalties for quitters, as those who have terrible connections would be affected. Unless the game recognizes the player disconnected and doesn't penalize them, I don't support time penalties. However, I do support a rewards system. Having played lots of CoD, rage quitting is a heavy problem and lots of people do it. With that being said, I think it would almost be better to reward the people who do stay, as it is often times harder to stay rather than to leave. The rewards system shouldn't be an excessive amount of glimmer, but as stated earlier, rewards should be in sets of five games. i.e. 5 consecutive games= _ glimmer 10 consecutive games= _ glimmer The margin would slowly increase over time and would encourage good behavior while leaving those that rage quit out of the practically free glimmer. On almost the same note, Bungie could implement an amount of glimmer to everyone that finishes the game. However, this would be more of a "Match Bonus" for those that have played CoD before. With the ideas from above I see two effective, yet different strategies: 1. Penalize those that quit and give them timed bans that can/will increase over time. (Heavier punishment for quitters and more effective. Will cause quitters to think twice before leaving. However, it might cause some to quit the game.) 2. Reward those that stay and not those who quit games. (Lighter punishment for quitters and rewards those that stay as well as quitters that switch their behavior. Kind of like training and rewarding a dog with treats.) Overall, a lot of the ideas you have are good, and I wouldn't mind if any of them were implemented personally. Thinking of others connections and tendencies, these are the two best solutions. Once again, your doing a great job managing this and making sure everyone is heard and credited. Keep up the great work!

Wow this extremely well thought out and credited. Very nice to see the community come together.
-
Doubt Bungie would publicly shame quitters like that, especially in a T rated game with so many younger players. However I agree that we need a system to stop quitters
-
Somebody is butthurt. Why do you care so much about other people quitting?
-
WHO CARES about stats and sh¡t If ppl want to pad KDR it does not bother me whatsoever. You notice after a few games if the player is good or bad regardless of stats. Peace out
-
It's not bad but I do have a friend who disconnects a lot. Your system would make people hate him as they would think he's a k/d stat padding rage quitter when in fact he disconnects
-
What if they get disconnected, I know my internet gets sketchy sometimes, I don't quit out anything but sometimes I disconnect and games like that adjusts make me worry cause I don't know if disconnecting counts as quitting
-
Edited by General jynx : 8/31/2014 9:13:57 AMI don't entirely agree with this. I do t believe you should get punished for quitting the match. I don't rage quit at all, here and there yes. The problem I have is that I may have time for 1 match then I'm going to have to quit. Then I can come back on this can repeat several times over the course of a day. And games like black ops2 punished me unfairly. I couldn't play when I had the time. This really ticked me off. I wouldn't mind seeing if they quit to much on their stats and what not. But I do not think that punishing them is the right way to go about this. Not every one is competitive and for people like me who have time only for one or 2 games then has to quit. This system would suck.
my opinion
What about docking marks/reputation with the factions you're representing? It makes sense in the destiny universe and doesn't really harshly punish players who do it infrequently, but it will stack up if players do it a lot.

Seemingly good ideas. Nice. How about a Scarlett Letter on the armor of the rage quitters or a banner with "Unworthy Guardian" titled. Maybe their ghost and sparrow look retarded and the sparrow's boost sputters.

I did post on here before, possibly in this exact same topic but I couldn't find my post. Rewarding people who stay consecutive rounds could possibly work too, similar to daily login bonuses in games such as warframe. For example 5 consecutive full rounds get a small glimmer reward, stay 10 get an engram or something along those lines.

Edited by IamPluto: 8/25/2014 5:30:43 PMMost of this is futile imo. And I'm against it, because it does nothing to fix the problem. The problem isn't ppl quitting. The problem is why ppl quit. And adding blanket punishments won't fix the problem. Because the reason they quit, will still be there. I submit, that if you balance teams correctly. If you have a lobby for ppl who want a quick game and not a "serious match". If you have solo players vs solo players, and not full(communicating) fire teams. You won't have as many quitters as you do now. Let's take a step back and look. Does it even make sense to go into the Crucible, if you're solo? You can't even communicate with your team. Wtf was Bungie thinking? Lol Implementing those kind of features, (and there's many more that could/should be implemented imo) would go a long way for the fight against online quitters. You guys have to look at the bigger picture... Because blanket punishments will do nothing. And you ppl will keep asking for more severe punishments.
-
We shouldn't be punished for quitting terrible games that end up in a blowout anyway. If anything the game should reward good players for carrying the dipshits for as long as they did before leaving.
-
I think a good way to get rid of those kd wankers would be to make it so that every time they leave a game, their stats for it are automatically 0 kills, 10 deaths. It would make sure that no matter how badly they're doing in game, it will usually be worse if they leave.

Why not use MM to match quitters with a team of quitters? Bans are no good because people want access to the game they bought, even though they ruin the experience of that game for others. This way there is none of that. I also think it would be nice to have a multiplier for each teammate lost. So if one member left, each death would only count .9, if two left, .75, etc. This helps shorthanded games go faster if the team down has more incentive to play, and doesn't punish them as much for quitters.
-
They need a no party join game type cuz when I jump on for a couple games just to have some fun and get matched against a clan halfway through the game 10-60 bet ur ass I'm quitting.
-
Quitters should just be left alone imo or build a better system so we can actually block a player so we never have to play with them again. The ps block command just blocks messages and chat but doesn't keep a player from joining your game. Also a report system on console for ps would be great. You have no idea how many people I run into with modded saves or some kind of modded system/gamer tag/psn. I know its b.s. when im about to kill someone and all of a sudden they appear half way across the map and headshot me. Thats the kind of crap that ruins a game and those people should be reported and tagged so other player know what they are up to.
-
Or no.

Why does this stuff even matter to people? I thought it was about TRYING to have fun, but i guess games was never created for that reason
we should all be ashamed of ourselves
