I paid $60 I deserve to have access to the entire game

Getting a lot of whiners (I know, what's new) about the MM. And one thing I keep hearing is "Why should I be restricted from part of the game, I have a job, wife, family, school whatever, so it should be changed to ensure I can play. After all I paid just as much as you. Yet none of those people stop to think about the players these raids are designed for. And Bungie has been pretty vocal about wanting to have something for every type of gamer. Creating activities for every mood, or every type of gamer, means not everyone is going to like or be able to do every activity. If you're not the type of person that can schedule a time with 5 other people to tackle the hardest co-op experience in the game, then raids weren't designed for you. And it's extremely selfish and entitled of you to say that the raid Bungie designed for those players should cater to your play style. Want MM co-op dungeion, there will be probably 20 times as many strikes designed just for you than there will be raids designed for raiders. Want PVP, well Bungie has you covered as well. Want story, either lone wolf or co-op, covered. Want to explore every nook and cranny of the different worlds, covered. Between strikes, PVP, nighfall events and other limited time activities that Bungie will be providing, the 1 raid is probably like 5% of the available endgame activities. Someone only interested in PVE and skipping out on PVP is going to be missing much more of the game that someone that isn't able to raid. And since powerful exotics can be obtained in every activity, you aren't going to be out gunned by someone that can raid. TL:DR Creating activities for every mood, or every type of gamer, means not everyone is going to like or be able to do every activity. There's still an abundance of activities designed for you.

  • The content is there. Whether you can access it or not because of your time schedule is not Bungie's problem. Are people really this stupid?

To all the people complaining about this type of thing, you do have access to the entire game! It's not Bungie's fault you won't do anything about it

    • No one is restricted from anything. If you want to do the raids then get together a group. It's not hard.

    •
Someone only interested in PVE and skipping out on PVP is going to be missing much more of the game
I have been unsuccessfully looking for information on the amount of game play there is if I chose not to play PvP (basically because I hate it in this game). If I read this right you just said that most of this game is PvP but there is still a lot to do otherwise. I'll be honest here I'm not convinced that Destiny will be a massive Story driven game or have loads of replay value outside of PvP. I'm poised on cancelling my pre-order simply because I haven't had good information one way or another on the amount on non PvP game play there will be. Just how much Story will this game have? Will I complete it in the first night and be stuck at the highest level waiting for an expansion that increases that and adds more content? I'm just not sure about this game but what I have seen of it does look good. Just FYI PvP for me was totally unresponsive, I felt like I was moving around blindfolded in thick oil most of the time even after altering the responsiveness of the game. Every time I spawned I died and when I got to a flag I was shot and killed within seconds without being able to respond. I managed to get maybe 1 super per match if I was lucky and have never played any PvP game and got such a shockingly poor K/D ratio or PPM score. So unless things are changed a heck of a lot with PvP I will not be playing that part of the game.

      • Good points. Also, it's funny that people are calling them restrictions. Every game has its rules and nuisances to figure out, and if people really want to do it then they can just do it. No matchmaking? There are already several sites created by the community (not even including clans on B.net) to help you set this up. You can call it a restriction but you would be wrong. Bungie has given us all the tools we need to do matchmaking, and at a higher and more purposeful level.

      • Bungie also said that the raids are meant to keep players coming back again and again if this is the case that's a blow to some players replay value if there is a MM and some players want to use that's fine by me it does not take away my experience or ruin the game for me I will be playing destiny because I feel in love with the beta if you don't want to use the MM then don't it is your choice but don't say that it will ruin what it means to be a hardcore gamer cause in the end gameing is passion that we all share let's not ruin it for others

      • I'm a co-op addict so for me a raid is the creme de la creme, I just have to make sure the team starts at a time we can all commit to.

      • I don't see the problem with MM. All the people with friends can play with them, and the rest of us have to play with strangers. Why can't we have both! Seems stupid to exclude people.

I understand now after this thread why countries go to war on earth. There comes a point where there is a clear line of right and wrong, but one party will never Concede to reason(people wanting MM) they keep forcing your hand (whining about MM). It hits a tipping point and your forced to nuke them. Moral of this story is No Matchmaking, Bungie gave great reasons..... For once swallow your pride and listen to reason damn.

        • You payed full price for the game, and you're getting the full game. Raids too. Bring some friends/ your clan/ strangers you've colluded with to go on a raid for a few hours, and you're in.

        • I don't know everything about this debate but my simple mind doesn't understand why both can't exist. MM for those who like it and custom/private raids for those who prefer otherwise. Unless I'm missing a major creative point, that would be such an easy solution.

          • But don't they have exotic items that can only be unlocked through raids, which means the guys with all the time would have an advantage in game modes like the iron banner once they have unlocked these items? Raids are fine but they should at least offer equivalent weapons and gear that can be unlocked through other means. So now there would possibly be two parts of the game you would be excluded from because you don't have the time to participate in raids and you can't compete in the iron banner because you lack the uber gear unlockable through said raids. Just my 2 cents

            • I completely agree. I think that Bungie has done a spectacular job on the game, and will definitely enjoy playing the raids with my friends. I don't see why you are so upset about something that requires you to have five friends. It's not that hard one, and two, THERE ARE TONS OF OTHER THINGS TO DO!!! That's why Destiny is such a hot topic, because the possibilities of gameplay are astronomically big compared to past FPS's. I will honestly say your arguments are unfounded.

My only request for these raids is an in game chat window I have a small number of people I game with and there is no guarantee we can be on at the same time EVEN WITH PRIOR PLANNING shit happens no one can control EVERYTHING and a chat window works well in other mmo games in order to form up groups for such activities. No whining just posing in idea

            • Yes, I agree with your points as made here. We must wait to experience the experience before rushing off to judgment. It looks as though the only group that could have any legitimate beef would be those who actually enjoy match made PVP. But they get enough good time in the rest of the game so that it is of little consequence, right? I have news for you. An organized group is not elite. It is the individuals who are elite and a lone wolf may join with other lone elites in MM, kick rear and take names. Your clan members are just as likely to have time constraints as well as anyone else does, and will you be removing those clan members who do not perform to your expectations from the membership roll? My own experience is like that of many other players. I play solo as much as possible and have completed the same battles and missions as others. I free roam and come across others engaged in a battle and step in to help using solo tactics, but the presence of others is restrictive in the best places to position and actions to take. Together we defeat the Fallen and share the rewards. Some of those other players are truly great and some struggle, but all of them run solo at times. Every one of us is running solo when first awakened by our Ghosts! The attitude that those who do not sign up for membership in an established clan are not elite enough to play the entire content of the game is horse hockey. If the elitist claim was true, there would logically be a ban against clan members playing solo since it would be too easy. Just call the PVP battles what they are....clan wars. Without a clan you can not enter.

            • Implementing matchmaking does not affect the enjoyment of the groups who spend time planning and building their own teams. Implementing matchmaking allows people that are not able to play on a consistent basis (college, family, job, etc) to at least try it at the cost of the disadvantage of a possibly terrible team. Implementing matchmaking does not mean there will be a nerf to the content. With matchmaking, people will complain it's too hard. Without matchmaking, people will complain it's too hard. People can still work together well in teams of randoms. I've been in great random teams multiple of times. The ONLY argument that can be said for no matchmaking is that the content takes too long to complete (4+ hours). But I have not seen Bungie say anything other than "it requires coordination and cooperation found only among friends."

                • Funny thing is that only about 40% of games purchased (according to sony) are actually completed. So the whole "I'm not getting my moneys worth" statement is in the lower 40% of gamers. I also don't know of any gamers who have no friends who play games. Though, my assertion is biased as my sample is made up of people I know and people I know play games with my wife and I.

I disagree and I don't agree with either side the way you are presenting it, I also think it is odd for you to take the side of less features that a good chunk of people want? I would counter that it is extremely selfish and entitled of you to think that everyone else doesn't deserve to take part in the end game content nor request that Bungle reconsider their opinion because they are adults with responsibilities. My biggest concern is coordination with my friends, we all have jobs, families and are not always available online at the same times. If I was 14 and my friends and I had no responsibilities I am sure we could all drop everything to swing some raids. It isn't realistic once you are an adult with a life though, I may be able to get 2-4 people online at the same time, but it is very rare that I ever have 6 people online at the same time that are available to do anything. I would just like to be able to take my group of 4 and slip in 2 additional people in a pinch so we can do some end game dungeons. I don't think that is asking to much, every other shooter and MMO has the ability to gather additional people when they need it. Why not include this here?
