I think what has upset a lot of people are the similarities to Halo after Bungie segregating themselves from the series. Some of the mechanics are similar (crosshair being below center, slight movement overshoot), there's a robot chilling in your head, you jump 7 feet in the air, etc.
Personally, I think Destiny is what they wanted Halo to evolve to. It's an MMO that feels nothing like such. I think it's done really tastefully, it feels relatively well balanced, it has zazz, and honestly the beta impressed me far more than I expected it to.
The more people that cancel, the faster servers will be for the rest of us. I say to hell with 'em.

I thought the beta was amazing and the game looks to be everything ive ever wanted in a game, basically like a WoW with the playability on console. And the thing i think people on the whole Halo thing dont get is this game would not be this good.. if they hadnt been the creators of halo, this is the accumulation and pot of gold with everything they ever learned from halo all in one pot

I agree. For me Destiny is fresh because I didn't play Halo much at all. Since Bungie has been involved with Halo for so long, how can they not avoid putting some gameplay mechanics into this game. I like that they are bringing another game into the FPS plus RPG genre. I burned myself out last year on Borderlands 2 - I love that game and will be looking forward to Borderlands: The Prequel. If you don't like the game, then fine - move on there are lots of other games to choose from. In the meantime, let the game launch and then make your assessment on it.

Dear God this game is impressive. I played the beta on my Xbox 360 and even just creating my character the graphics stunned me! Didn't know the beta came out Friday till I turned on my 360 and saw the "join the beta now" and downloaded it. I started playing Saturday and I got hooked. The only negative was the lag and the constant respawning of enemies but the game blew me away. Where the haters are stupid and people who hate the game it's the FRICKING beta. The game sounds like it's gonna be a constantly updating game. Even the enemies changed too which was interesting. I hope they infuse this site and the clans into the game. Like if your in the "/b/" clan then it will show your clan to other players.

What you said about it being a MMO that doesn't feel like an MMO, I fully agree with. It reminded me of Journey, where people drop into and out of your game casually. You can work together or go it alone.
