It's like Halo and it's not like Halo. It looks like it and feels like it with the way the ships come in on a surprise raid event, the enemies scattered about maps and somewhat with the graphics. Watching the mulitiplayer Crucible match at IGN, Halo match came instantly to mind. I saw little difference between Halo or this game beside a little less bunny hopping.
So far it different as there is really no story yet and will have to see how that works out in the beta. You just sort of run around and shoot everything after doing the story's mission.
The MMO feel only appears to be the Tower, maps feel pretty void of other players and I suspect will continue to feel so due to the large size of the maps and the number of players that can be in a map (small number as the game is not an MMO). So maybe 16 to 20 players in a large map? Sort of like the older Battlefield Conquest maps when they had 33 players on huge maps and maybe you'd see 1 other person at an object. Destiny maps are much larger. I suspect you will need to hook up with others in the Tower if you expect to have help on a mission as I think odds won't be good for running into someone on a map.
So I see lots of similarities to Halo in looks and multiplayer matches. The story/co-op side I expect to be different from Halo though you can help but feel similarities to how portions of the game work in this area. Hey, it is being made by Bungie. :-)
