Will I... Be lonely?

So, I'll start with a disclaimer. I'm not monetarily well off. Even getting the game is somewhat pushing the limits of my finances. I have an xbox 360 (Which I'm lucky to have even) and a crappy (But overpriced) Pc. Essentially my question is will I be alone? I see virtually no threads about console players from the prior generations who are getting this game. It's clear to me that this is going to be a game largely driven by a large population. So what's going to happen to those of us who don't have the luxury of owning a next generation console? Just wondered if any of you are in the same boat. It might make the game feel cooler, a few lone guardians united against the darkness. Instead of a horde of "Lol bro, kickass" Guardians that vastly outnumber the enemies. Thoughts?

  • Saves transfer so if you get next gen and sign in using bungies servers you can pick up where you left off. The game is definitely capable of playing well at lower population levels, you just gotta have an internet connection.

  • Hey bro, You got a best buy near you? Every time I get expensive stuff I can't afford like electronics I hit up best buy with a best buy card. You get financed with no interest as long as you pay the entire balance off before the promo ends. If you don't you potentially get an interest accrued spike, so staying on top of your payments is key. say you spend like 500 bucks. You get 12 months to pay it off. Ends up being like 41 to 42 bucks a month for 12 months. Which isn't bad. I always use best buy. Pay all my stuff online as well. Auto pay. Deffinitely way easier than unloading some big bills when you got rent, car payments, school loans , family etc to pay. This is just info in case you wanted a current gen systems, and didn't know about the alternative. It wasn't hard to be qualified for that card either. I've had it for a long time back before my credit was really even established.

    • Nah many people still don't have xbox one or ps4 but want destiny, you won't have a huge amount of people in your destiny world but a lot will still be there

    • Well, you might not have the largest branch of the destiny community to play with but you'll be fine. This happened with the ps2/xbox guys when last gen came out too. Some of us are just lucky to have the money to spare, to have a job in general. What I'd do is just start saving, few bucks a week until you can get a larger chunk to even it out for a next gen console. If you're too young for a job even, try some neighborhood jobs like lawn care, or babysitting, dog walking. Sounds corny but if you really need a new console they're viable options.

    • You won't be alone. On a numbers basis, there are around 70 million XBox owners in the wold - versus maybe 7 million XBox One owners. So you could expect about 10 times as many people on Xbox 360 as XBox One - assuming the game plays decently on the last gen console. On a personal note, I just ordered Destiny for my Xbox 360 - and hope to get my Beta code soon to test play in late July. And I was thinking of going Xbox One, but after looking at the requested features page (started after E 3 2014 by MS) , it's pretty clear to me that XBox One has a lot of features missing that Xbox 360 already has. So spending $400 for a less capable (feature wise) console makes no sense at all to me.

      • I completely understand your concern. Empty servers are never fun. This game is made to be played with a community of people. Hell, you cant even attempt a raid in Destiny without 6 people. I think, however, you'll find that many people have not decided to upgrade yet and are planning on playing on the last gen console. Activision is smart when it comes to publishing games, and I'm sure they know what they're doing. If they didn't think it was going to profit from selling to last gen consoles, they probably wouldn't do it. This leads me to believe that you will boot up destiny on your xbox 360 for the first time to find a large amount of other people who did the same thing. Fear not my fellow guardian... there is light at the end of this dark tunnel.

      • This is not flame bait, but here's the reason you won't be lonely: XB1 adoption is being slower than PS4. Because of that, pre-orders for the 360 are 50% of those for the XB1. Compare that to the PS3 which has only 15% pre-orders of those for the PS4. So, don't worry, you'll be going in with lots of Guardians.

        • Game stop is having a deal where they will take 100 dollars off the Xbox one in exchange for an Xbox 360.
